Re: Need For Speed Undercover mystery meshes

Great work on the savegame research everyone. Does anyone know if there's a Carcode for the police heli (COP_HEL_FED_01)? thx Oh yeah.. I forgot the codes for the cop cars in my list. Sorry... Open up MW's vltedit and type in "hash cop_hel_fed_01" and it'll give you the carcode as a INT32...

Little do people know that the "paul.dll" was taken from another game... specifically an Atari one ;).

Re: NFS Undercover - Wheel Shadow Mod

Nope, draw distance is probably half that of PS. I can get a good racing view in PS from pretty high up. I'm really hoping that EA just shoved this out the door because of marketing deadlines and intend to fix it up with a soon to be released patch. When PS was released it ran like a brick too but ...

Re: Need For Speed Undercover mystery meshes

Actually, all the customization slots are present, it's just a few bytes which get modified when buying a stock car, like the ID (first bytes), model code and some more. But theres some reference table after the 70 customization slots which has to be modified as well, so it's best to let the game d...

Re: Need For Speed Undercover mystery meshes

Some kind of SaveEditor would probably be nice, but I'm not sure if it's worth the time when you can do the most useful changes with some easy hex-editing. You're probably right... its pretty hard to get a save editor to create the customization slot... its much more easily done by getting the game...

Re: NFS Undercover - Wheel Shadow Mod

Nice :)... doesn't look like they have much of a draw distance.

Are you hooking specific functions to pull off these addresses?

Re: NFS Undercover - Wheel Shadow Mod

It kinda looks like the car is floating without that little shadow... but I do agree, that shadow does look pretty bad. Well... everyone should be able to just get a 8800gt (they're pretty cheap now) and turn on full shadows. Speaking of floating... at least you didn't end up with this: http://img14...

Re: Need For Speed Undercover mystery meshes

Shouldn't be that big of a deal: just a search for say, the first bonus carslot, and all further address calculations based on that. Don't really have to search... First Car Slot = 230h + (32bit int value @ 208h) That should be simple enough? :) north_america/saleen/s7 Wait, what? Sweet, never noti...

Re: Need For Speed Undercover mystery meshes

it only needs some alteration for the changed savegame size, i guess? i don't think thats MD5 hash, just multiple CRC32s, guessing from the source code: typedef struct tagSaveHeader[/quote] No no.. the crcs are there too.. but I meant this: (the one selected in blue) [url=http://img227.imageshack.u...

Re: Need For Speed Undercover mystery meshes

Didn't work - crashed my game, I'll look into extracting some of the regular cars codes out of the savegame later... Okay, got a list for you and I think its the right one this time... I was looking in the wrong place... I thought EA might have gotten rid of these after the car_vault business.... b...

Re: Need For Speed Undercover mystery meshes

you don't happen to know about secondary carcodes (which are stored in the customization section and are responsible for what car is displayed in menu), don't you? i called them 'blueprint codes' in prostreet, but since theres only one customization per car we have to find another name... Re: Need For Speed Undercover mystery meshes

Posted a dump of the menucodes/carcodes here . They're not matched up, but I'm sure you guys should have no trouble matching them up. Just fyi (and I'm getting technical here) the Logocodes are essentially nodes out of the "frontend" tree in the FE_ATTRIB.BIN file, and the Carcodes are nod...

Re: Need For Speed Undercover mystery meshes

Unlocking the full CE is pretty easy (technically just a 1 byte patch in memory)... but I feel kinda bad revealing it since its a source of income for EA . Right. Because EA doesn't have any other source of income and cares about its consumers so much that it actually makes a decent game. :ro...

Try looking at the alpha channel with ddsview.
Most of the vinyl data is often in the alpha channel, and the RGB channel is just plain black/white.

Re: Modding speed/Handling

Tho, I'm a few weeks late... To modify perf, you should edit the attributes.bin file... Look at vltedit, vltpatcher, etc in the MW mod tools. For custom cars, we don't directly modify attributes.bin, instead we create a "patch script" (mwps file), which is dynamically executed by modloader.

What use is giving credits to the guy who ripped it, if you don't give credits to the guys who made it? Ripping models out of the game really is infringement of copyright and violation of intellectual property laws. If you're going to do it, don't publicly give out the models.

Carbon Demo: New cars to play with

Here's a little treat for everyone... this will let you do the following: 1. Allows you to select a few new cars (most of them being MAZDA SPEED 3s) Some cars will be autoscultable, some won't. Some will have engine sounds, others won't. Some will have NOS/Speedbreaker, and some won't. Remember that...
