NFSW Upcoming Updates

Post by Vimenze »

First of all: All credits go to Fasckira @ World-Garage
New game mode: Co-Op Escape/Pursuit

There will be set events where you can play public or private "escapes". The route will be scripted and the one we saw today was "Rosewood Escape" which involved a long fairly straight road with police blockades and pursuing police chasing the players down the route.

Points are awarded based on who escapes (no 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc) so if all escape then its massive points all around! However, a 3 strike system exists so that if a player is busted more than 3 times then the _group_ is out! Powerups will be added specifically for co-op - emergency evade co-op for example will make all players use it at the same time.

Tactics will be involved to an extent; some routes will have like double blockades so one player will need to use a juggernaut for example and smash through to clear the way for others!

Might interest you to know but out of the devs John Doyle is the worst player at this mode and causes everyone to lose frequently.

New customisation:

This bit is fricking awesome: we now have 4 areas in "Customisation" - Performance / Visual / Paint / Vinyl
Performance brings up the familiar engine/induction/transmission/brakes/suspension/tires and a "misc" (which is like special unique things like custom exhaust and so on)
Each car can receive an upgrade from each category but for example under the engine there were easily 30+ parts to choose from with each part affecting speed, acceleration and handling. Mythical brands have been invented that have running themes like "Kestrel" being better at acceleration for example. These parts can be bought or won through race rewards.

The performance parts do affect the sound of the car in game to boot. When a part is bought for a car it is fixed to that car till its sold or replaced - it cant be moved to other cars.

Nighttime Mode:

This is confirmed and it looks beautiful. We saw it in a new area, Downtown Rockport and got to see a huge neon lit rocket girl! Nighttime will last roughly a couple of hours.

There are at least 30 new cars coming but the most I could tease out of JC was that one of them was a supra.... oh, and we have tier 4 cars coming.

On the subject of tiers, we can also expect to see more heat levels and there is a helicopter lurking in the "dev's back pocket" as John said.

Bayview and Tri-city are being considered to be added but at the moment all the canyons have been recreated - these take up to 7 minutes to travel in a tier 3 car and you can fall off them. They are also planning to implement a pile of areas that were developed for an NFS game that never got released.

There are at least 15 more photoshoot points coming including the golfcourse and car-parks and canyons. Also expect to see huge beach balls appearing in the photoshoot mode!

Two new safehouses will be appearing but how these will be available yet is still debatable. There is the intention to make it possible to drive to these places and have certain safehouses affecting the parts that can be used on your car.

There is no intention to increase the level cap at the moment - the team want the game to be more about part pursuit rather than level chasing. The rep/cash gain is still being tinkered with though to find the right balance and ensure the game is less of a grind.

Free players can expect to see some nice things; there is the intention to hold set race events which will put players in certain cars regardless of rep.

A feature called "Speed API" is coming which will allow people to pull stats from the game and implement them into websites to create leagues, ladders, tournaments etc. This is a huge in-depth programming aspect which I will be yanking a few of our WG coders into action on.

Custom vinyls, bodykits and route planners will be coming but not much info was given on that and details that were questioned were a bit hazy.

As to when all this is coming? Well, theres no set date as this stuff is going to pushed out gradually as and when its ready but we can expect to see a lot of it this year (with a major marketing push coming in november).

Nice... especially the different parts of performance customization instead of sets of packages.

now I'm really thinking about getting this game.. :)

 pleaaaase! Olympic City not on the cards though?

Good to hear.

Agree it does look beautiful from the screenies, will add the environment immensely.

Once again, great news. I know many people have found World's custimization underwhelming to date so this is good to hear.

Awesome, I know this was on the forefront of my mind before release, so great to hear they're working on it.

But once again, all this new stuff is great, just a pity they can't look at stabilizing the servers/include Australasian servers etc over adding new content, because that is the priority.

Note that the video of the coop pursuit ends in Kempton's aquaduct, which is used for Carbon's waterfront sprint track, and stonewall tunnel speed trap track, so at least part of Kempton has been converted to NFS World.

As much as i'd like to see Olympic city as well, i doubt it.

Olympic city was just tracks, and a bit of the surrounding area. They would need to actually MAKE the city, not just turn up the graphics.

Im curious of those "areas made for NFS but never released".

Hopefully they will add Dodge Neon from NFS Underground! 8) :D
And every car from every NFS(ok, excluding certain cars from Shift  i don't think Zonda R would fit in there)

I made this mega list of all the cars from UG1-SHIFT so that people could have a good idea of the final car list a while back, I think it might still be on this forum...I'll get the link if I find it.

And actually I would like to see Olympic City in there, but priority to the other cities first, as this would take a lot of time to work on.

Also, what happened to the autodrive mode? Was that abandoned? Because I would still find that I nice addition that lets me cruise the streets while I type into the chat box, look at pop up boxes etc....it's a bit of a pain I have to park at the side of the road just to type a response to something for instance.

This is a nice carlist, just that i doubt Ferraris appearing there. I mean seriously they(Ferrari) just act as if their cars were somewhere around Untouchable level.

Yeah I agree, I'll edit them out. Still, the rest of the list would be nice to have in World.
