Well.. after two long sessions and Going after the Darius one.. i wonder when tier3 cars will unlock.. everybody has a faster car now but i just dont get tier 3 cars anywhere :(
ok, some thoughts..
Started with a muscle, it sure is the hard way. lots of cars is good, lots of unlockables is good.. i really dont like the teammates but you get used to them.. its really nice game, but theres some things that are real pain in the *** but its nice.
lots of stuff in it..

Look for races that unlock cars. When you put your mouse/dot/thingy over the race there pop up's this little window, at the bottom of this window it says what unlock you get.

I love the game, i'm not sure if I like this or NFS:U2 better, mw were okey.
Lots of cool new stuff, great graphics, could been more cars imo.

Just picked mine up from Best Buy this morning. Installed flawlessly and ran it the first time. I ran into the black screen on first run, renamed the Movies folder, and ran again. No problem. I think by renaming that folder I disabled all the FMV movies. I hope that doesn't ruin my gaming experience.

Overall, I am impressed. I am getting used to the controls since I was previously playing NFSU2. NFSC is a little more "tweaky". I am using my Logitech Wingman Rumble and with U2 I would have to peg the steering. With Carbon I can't do that or I just spin out. I started with the RX-8.

I am still working on getting the jumpiness out of the system. I think that it doesn't have to do with the game but with my system. I have nice specs but am using this on Vista RC2 so the interfacing between driver and hardware might not be the best. I might just move on back to XP. The visuals are great. U2 seemed more fuzzy where Carbon is sharper. The darkness that people have been mentioning is not bad if you change the video options. I did a canyon sprint and it was dark, but I think that it is for effect more than anything else. Quick glances at the running map and I was good to go on what was ahead.

Only problem I have run into is when I quit the game (what!?! why are you quitting?) It takes almost 5 minutes to get back to the desktop. I CTRL-ALT-DEL into task manager and there is the game, then there is a cleanup that I think is run to ensure the game doesn't leave tracks when it leaves. Anyone run into this? Maybe the patch will address this.

I will give this a 90%. With my specs it should be running much smoother, but then again it might just be Vista. I will be trying some online racing tonight.
Husband, Father, Geek, and proud of all three.

i got the game for PS2 but am currently running it threw a TV card on my computer without any sound :x (will be picking up some adapters this weekend.) im really missing the sound all the movies become pointless and i think when i get the sound back im gona start again so i can c them all. as for the game its self. im loving it. the racing is pretty good. the wingmen are kinda anoying in every respect and i cant even hear them yet. drifting is insanly hard but i reckon will be sweet once i get used to it. as some one else said im enjoying the vinyls more than the auto sculpt. there aint much point in having 100 degrees of change. altho it is still cool.
all in all im loving it. even without the sound :(

Man, never mind what i said before about the game, so far it's pretty dissapointing. Racing is hard as hell, and the new Physics are totally inacurate, just because a car is an Exotic, means that it only has top speed advantage, WELL WHAT ABOUT A LOTUS??? I haven't driven one of the two Lotus' yet and when I do, they better be the best damn handling car on the road, because if i'm getting schooled in the turns by some Front engine, Front wheel drive, 2500lb car, i'm gonna be bissed. A REAL Lotus Elise weighs a little under 1900lbs, and has a mid mounted engine which gives better weight distribution and rear wheel drive which allows the front wheels to turn and not have the extra pull. Also what about cars like the and generally most 'Muscle' cars are American, while most 'Tuner' cars are Japanese. What about cars like the VW R32, and Vauxhall Monaro, both of those are European, so do they get Exotic car traits? And Drifting? Come ON, I know they wanted to speed it up, but i feel like the car is on some Supercharged Turntable, with the tail kicking around at unrealistic speeds, and how come it has to be limited to drift mode? Why can't we do that (or something close) in regular races? Then there's the paint. How am I supposed to match colors when there's a billion of them? Now, a billion colors ain't bad, but it's almost impossible to match them. And canyon drift, and duel modes are just... *sighs* I found it very hard to drift in the canyon, and when i did get points they would conveiniently stick around until i hit the wall two turns after the initial drift. AND THE XBOX VERSION DOESN'T HAVE LIVE!!!!!!!!!! WTF?!?!? WHY THE HELL NOT?????????
The one good thing in this game is the customization, although it's tedious, and the large amount of paints make it always one tone off. And the vinyl moving is cool, but long.

EA told a long time ago that current gen consoles (XBOX, PS2) won't have online play.
What the reason is I don't know but I'm sure they got a valid reason for it.

I'm glad to hear that the game is darker, cause I hated the fact that U2 looked like it was almost daylight. everything was way to light, there wan't a dark spot in the game.

Well after i have played the full version for some time and have taken over all territories except the "FullDeck's" i can just say, "This game is worse then MW! The performance issue i had with the demo was gone in the full version and the game runs smooth at the highest settings, but the game play is a JOKE! The opponents cars always goes 20 mph faster then yours doesn't matter what you do with your car, and they drive like they was on a rail track even in the corners in 300mph :( it was fun in the beginning when you at least had a chance but now it is just frustrating and no fun at all. The canyon drift races is the most stupid thing i have ever seen, I'm so glad that i did get the original game for free and feel sorry for all that had to buy it.

I agree one some of the things you say, I mean your opponents catch up with you so fast when they 10 sec back.

And I swear I never seen them crash if I didn't do something with them.

You just gotta plan a bit which car to use and which races to enter first in the last part of the city.. it goes much easier after you put some thought in it.. one of the Uber cars is Lancer.. i finished the game using that one :)

It is amazing that NFSC has only been out for a few days and you say you have played "for some time". I got it yesterday and I am not trying to barrel my way through. I am at 37% and have just beaten Angie (using Kenji's RX-7). Yes, there are some challenging opponents but using NOS wisely, using your crew members to your advantage (even though their chatter gets annoying at times), and just plain good upgrading you can beat anyone. The only thing I have yet to get a hang of is the mountain drifting. I can drift great on a closed track but mountain drifting is definitely challenging. I will say that I didn't play NFSMW so I cannot compare it to that but I can say that I enjoy it more than NFSU2, especially when I can jump to a race instead of having to drive all over the place for just one race. I am thoroughly enjoying this game. Maybe I have lower expectations than others.

You know how I won this? I used Kenji's Rx-7 to race against a Lamborghini Murcielago. And I won. How? Because that murcielago slows down at every corner and near the finiishing line, it crashed, enabling me to pass it withing 10 seconds to win the canyon duel.

So, opponents car do crash at certain times.

Ok, i'm in a better mood now, and the game is better so long as I stay away from the challenges. I'm still getting used to the drifting because the tail of your car weighs 1lb in the game. But the career is nice and fast paced, plus you unlock everything left and right. Autosculp is pretty cool, but the fenders don't look to good. And even though the wingman are annoying, they can be pretty useful, I even had a Scout who blocked for me :)
That's really something.

Worst NFS game i've played.
It seemed okey in the start, but wow they screwed it up big time.
They just made opponents with super cars, short game and not that much new imo.

Greedy EA, rushes to make some game that so easily finished.

It crashed? Your game must be bugged. I recommend you re-install it if you on pc or go to your nearest store to trade it.

Well i have tried everything there is you can try in the game, you know I'm 41 and have played games for at least 20 years. I don't make lose statements or try all possibilities before i say something and this game is a JOKE period! I thought that the AI was unrealistic in the past NFS games like U1/U2/MW but in Carbon it is just rediciolus, i don't even play the game any more because it is just a waste of time.

I myself consider to be a serious gamer with more than enough experience (20yrs also.. been playing all my life..), i was in the same situation but it gets easier when you get a decent car unlocked.. it was far more worse in MW imo, its sometimes very hard yes but its something i can live with.. Maybe cos the first 3/4 of the game was very very easy it might kinda hit you in the face when the serious stuff starts.. surely the raise of difficulty is something else than linear.. and yes the ai cheats but its unbeatable.. tbh with the lancer its wasnt even too difficult. :) and you said it, its a GAME.. and even more specific its an arcade game.. i knew what to expect so maybe im just experiencing it differently or maybe you just got your amount of frustration.. but i feel that such extreme comment cant be totally rational and well thought.. no offence :P
