Dude, I'm fifteen, never driven a car in my whole life and I can tell the difference between a powerslide and oversteer, in which there is no difference.Carcrazy wrote:

Dude, before starting talking about diferences in car driving styles, drive in the first place, it's very different to never drive a car and start talking and had drove a car anytime.Koenigsegg_Rox wrote:Dude, I'm fifteen, never driven a car in my whole life and I can tell the difference between a powerslide and oversteer, in which there is no difference.
Drive the car and feel the difference

Um, I'm saying that even though I haven't driven a car before, I know what a powerslide is, and what oversteer is, which are exactly the same thing.

Re: First car You ever drove or will drive.
Damn, I feel so pwn'd
What I was trying to get at is, oversteer would be caused by to much power being put on the road whereas the tires cannot get traction fast enough to keep it grounded (if you get what I mean...)
I know they technically are the same thing, as a powerslide is caused by oversteer... so yeah I guess I went around in a circle there. Or, just for the sake of saying it, did a dounut.

Re: First car You ever drove or will drive.
Actually, youre not as dumb as people are making out, just a little...misguided thats all.
Oversteer simply put, is the result of a loss of traction at the back-end, causing the rear of the car to try and overtake the front. You could describe it as a skid, a spin, or a powerslide to an extent. However, what youre trying to get at is that oversteer isnt the same as a drift, as the momentum of the oversteer cannot be maintained in anything other than RWD. While FWD and AWD cars can powerslide, they cannot drift, as the front wheels are always trying to regain traction and throwing off the momentum. You usually encounter oversteer right after understeer in a RWD car.
There are, however, many ways in which you can induce oversteer into your car, as Ive had fun testing out this last week. Dialling in a fair amount of negative camber on the rear wheels usually helps.

Toe angle helps too, along with a rear brake bias.

Heh, try some excessive toe-out on the rear and you'll be oversteering at 10km/h Makes you think the back of the car is going to fall off, not fun.

Re: First car You ever drove or will drive.
I've always understood the difference between oversteer and powerslide to be pretty rudimentary. Always though that oversteer is a generic term (you can oversteer without needing application of power) and powerslide requires the application of engine power. Powerslide is a kind of oversteer, and drift is a controlled powerslide.
I think that's right

Rear-brake bias isnt a good idea.

No problem, if anything you should be proud, its an idea many people find hard to grasp.

I havn't driven a car yet but at the moment, my first car to drive is either gonna be a Toyota Hilux Surf (1996), Volvo V40 or a BMW 328i. We have those cars in the family you see.

Re: First car You ever drove or will drive.
Actually, I have driven a car before the Skyline, which was a GQ Nissan Patrol.
Re: First car You ever drove or will drive.
the car i'll probable drive first in the future is either a Ford Mondeo 2.0 2007 or a Renault Megane CC 2.0, those are our cars.
Who found out you can get milk from a cow, and what the hell was he doing at the moment?
Re: First car You ever drove or will drive.
First car I drove was a 1994 Subaru Impreza STi. I was 7 and I sat on my dads lap and controlled the steering wheel.
The first car I ACTUALLY drove was a 1996 Toyota Corolla DX. I drive it around in circles cause we live on a circular road. (more like an oval). I really like it. But I miss the Impreza. Had too much problems so we sold it.
The car I plan to buy/get whenever I get my license is either have our Corolla or buy myself a 2003 Toyota Camry or a 1994 Impreza STi with a blue paint. =)
Just need to wait 2 more years =o

Re: First car You ever drove or will drive.
Someone's telling fibbies. No offense but at the age of three you wouldn't know how to park ANY car perfectly yet.

Re: First car You ever drove or will drive.
Rofl. About 99.9% of people at driving age cant even park perfectly. So the idea of a 3 year old doing it is just absurd.
Re: First car You ever drove or will drive.
I hope he is joking.. cause ofcourse you can't bloody park when you are 3. man most can't even talk properly....
Cause how in EARTH would he be able to touch the pedals, the stering wheel and the shiftknow (or autolever) and look around him (mirrors and windows) to park a car.... in other words simply not possible
So let's hope he is joking

Either he's joking or is an idiot. Based on the all-caps, I'd say the latter.
