R&B/Soul Music
Hey, anyone here like R&B music and/or know of some great R&B songs?
Lately I've been listening to the following R&B songs quite often:
-With You (Ft. Snoop Dogg & The Game) - Jamie Foxx
-Last Night (Ft. Keyshia Cole) - Diddy
-Lost Without You - Robin Thicke
-Come Home (Ft. Akon) - Play N Skillz
-You (Ft. Lil' Wayne) - Lloyd

Well your input on this topic wasn't very useful either...
I think R'n'B these days is kinda close to Rap-music so I dunno if this really needs a topic of it's own.
It's kinda like if somebody made a topic for metal and there's already a rock thread.
Besides I dunno how much conversation there's gonna be about R'n'B.
Probably not that much.
But I'll leave it open and see if there's some actually "intellectual" conversation going on in here and not just "this sucks" posts or single song names being posted.

Well, R&B has a lot of rap in it, but the range that R&B covers can spread out to many slower artists that have no rap at all, like John Legend and Robin Thicke. I thought of first posting in the Rap section, but R&B has a different taste to it. It's like comparing a Lamborghini to a Volkswagen. Sure, they're related and may have some similar things about them, but there are very great differences as well, which proves that you can't just go around calling Lamborghinis Volkswagens just because it's a subsidiary.
@ Carcrazy: Yes, Don't Matter by Akon would probably fit into the R&B genre, but some people have a different definition of R&B.

I like to sit back and listen to a bit of Marvin Gaye and Pattie Labelle , although I guess they would be regarded more as soul artist (perhaps a thread title change to differentiate more from the "rap thread" ?).
John Legend seems pretty cool, tho I've only heard of a few tracks from and collaborations that he did with Kanye West, I think I might grab his album and listen to what the rest of his stuff is like.
You guys should check out Erykah Badu, she's a pretty cool artist and has quite a distinctive voice, I first heard on an Outkast track called "Humble Mumble". There's definatly a good dose of jazz influences in some of her work.

I agree totally with that, many people (including me) think that Diddy should just stick to his rapping. If Pharrell, however, took over Diddy's parts in the song, I bet that would be a guaranteed #1 on many R&B charts.
I also found some great R&B songs that I've been listening to a lot recently that are a couple years old:
-Margarita (Ft. Pharrell & Big Boi) - Sleepy Brown
-I Just Wanna Love You (Ft. Pharrell) - Jay-Z
-Change Clothes (Ft. Pharrell) - Jay-Z
-Excuse Me Miss (Ft. Pharrell) - Jay-Z
And yes, if you haven't figured out by now, I do like Pharrell's smooth voice in many songs he's featured in.
And t3ice, your sig appears as a red "X".

@ t3ice: Yeah, I especially like the "Excuse Me Miss" song. On YouTube, there is also a mashup of that Excuse Me Miss and Chris Brown's version, which is quite good. If you want to view it, the link is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJlu0cSD7gA
@SliM: Well, that may be a sign that someday you will like all forms of R&B
