3 New Need for Speed Titles in the next year
In their quarterly financial report, EA among other things listed 3 Need for Speed games scheduled for release in the following 12 months.
Starting with Q1 (April - June 2010) is Need for Speed World, the PC exclusive MMO racing game. In Q3 (this year's holiday season) another game is scheduled to launch with a TBA title and most likely being the Criterion developed game. But the big surprise comes in Q4 (January - March 2011) when another consoles and PC targeted game is scheduled to launch. The game's developer is currently unknown, but it might be the return of the series to Black Box.
The financial report can be found here.

it stinks. just the thought of return of 'black box' horrifies me
first ea deprived us pc users from the ferraries. and now another disappointing news.
ea just dont understand. they need to take time to develop, polish and optimise the game before launching. think of dirt, dirt 2, grid. they look so well, play so well and almost run at full settings on my 'not so great' pc. SHIFT takes 5 mins just to load! and jerks even at the lowest settings!
i dont know about the other games, but i seriously think that the upcoming nfs for the pc will have 'recycled' stamped all over it. hope criterion doesnt craps it up.......

Let's hope they will develop each game with careful.
SHIFT left a good impression, so now they just have to keep doing quality games. No rushed out releases please! I'm really curious about Criterion's NFS and the new one (Black Box?). Can't wait for more info. I've read a few days ago a news on another site that Criterion would show EA for the first time their game. Maybe we can expect some info soon?

I'm really looking forward to the Criterion release.
I don't know about Black Box though. I mean, they do have potential (HP2-MW) but they've been making fairly "miss" games lately.

well if they just release demo's for these games and LISTEN to the community's feedback... it might just not turn out extremely disastrous.
oh.. wait.. one thing. it's EA. who am I kidding?

I'm eagerly awaiting the Criterion NFS. As for thinking of DIRT, DIRT 2, GRID, I heard that GRID 2 will be announced this month and I think if Codemasters did something like NFS: Most Wanted for a new franchise, it would be ridiculously good.
