Re: Favorite Car?
LOL isn't the Scirocco R meant to only have about 200Bhp at the wheels? That makes a good case for the car then if it's that powerful compared to the brochure ;) I had a little 205 a while back that ate M3's for breaky up to about 140mph. Had an Mi16 conversion and running about 160Bhp (not sure if...

Re: Koenigsegg_Rox's R31 GXE *Will be leaving me soon*
Here there's Quattros for the 1.8 atmo and turbo, 2.4 and 2.6; and there's no 2.5 TDi, or at least not in price range. From memory the 1.8 N/A is only about 130bhp. That plus 100kg's worth of extra AWD system means that acceleration will be about as rapid as plate tectonics. Go for a 6-pot if you c...

Re: Favorite Car?
@steelsnake - Sounds like a good plan, those G60's had some get up and go, though I didn't think they were that light on their feet. If you can get 300Bhp/tonne, that's a flipping good effort :) They only weigh in at about 1200kg dry, and with the heater matrix, rear seats, interior trim and air co...

Re: Koenigsegg_Rox's R31 GXE *Will be leaving me soon*
From memory, they didn't do an AWD 1.8 non-turbo- well at least they didn't for the UK market. The 2.4 is a little underpowered compared to the other V's but should be fine as a daily hack- don't expect it to set the world on fire though. Oddly, the 2.5 TDi is actually very good- it's the old style ...

Re: Koenigsegg_Rox's R31 GXE *Will be leaving me soon*
I've long been considering a B5 S4, having driven a number and "borrowed" a mates for a few weeks last summer. A little dated inside but still extremely competent, FWD ones aren't so great but his was "mildly worked over" to say the least. Quaiffe 4:1 preload centre diff, twin K0...

Re: Favorite Car?
Sounds like a plan. My next car is going to be something mad and track-ready seen as I'm getting my national Group B license later in the summer and want to get into club-level motorsport. Thinking of building up another Corrado, this time a G60 with an Eaton blower and big-valve head. Stripped down...

Re: Coolest cars you've seen
LOL he's just wanting to do Hot Pursuit IRL. Thing is having that camo only does one thing, makes you totally unique and therefore extremely easy to track... Not totally unique though, I know a guy who runs a slammed Mk1 TT 225 and that's been Camo wrapped for about 3 years now. It does look pretty...

Re: Favorite Car?
Ahh, but that's comparing apples with oranges. The stock power output of a TT FD RX7 is what, 265bhp? That's about the same as a similar era 2.6 Turbo motor, like, say, the B5 Audi S4 engine. Now they produce 265bhp in standard trim, map/exhaust/wastegate spring to 345+ and will push more than 600bh...

Ahh, the reference to military style vinyls confused me. Does that mean he owns 2 Murcs, both camouflage wrapped?

That camo LP640 is truly amazing. It's not a 670, you can tell by the lack of fixed rear spoiler

Re: Favorite Car?
Very true, the FD is a smooth road car, not a UK B-Roader without modification. Plus due to the constraints of the chassis the suspension is a lot stiffer and less compromising than the FC. I personally hate the feeling of the FD over the FC. Though you need to remove the passive rear steer or it g...

Re: Favorite Car?
Err which RX-7 are you talking about? I have an FC3S and it's one of the most direct and stable handling cars I've had or driven. Better than the STI WRX's I've been in and it's RWD not AWD. Wasn't too bumpy even with Zeal suspension (getting Tein in it soonish). I need to check out the FD3S though...

ok youn guys got all these small little 4 bangers with huge amounts of power. dont they have to be rebuilt after so many miles. or are the engines beefed up that much Beefed up. Re: Ugly Cars
Blame it on Lexus. Ugh, they're gasher than a head wound. I spent all this morning being tailgated by some arsehole in a Calibra 4x4 turbo with Lexus rear lights and some terrible Morette style front light clusters. Luckily I was on the bike so I could trounce him when he started being really doodl...

Re: What will you keep in mind when buying a classic car
In order to decide what you need to keep in mind when buying any car (not just classic), you've got to first know what you are looking for. Are you looking for an easy-to-use daily driven car (albeit with a little bit of something special about it), a restoration/modding project or a mint concourse ...

Re: TECH TALK - ask your technical car questions
May be a stupid question, but what are actual advantages of RWD? excluding drifting related stuff. As the power is sent to the rear wheels, the front wheels only need to worry about steering and not about putting down power too. This means the car can put down power more effectively, with less inte...

To me they just sound like diesels with boomy exhausts, regardless what's done to them. Even the Subaru WRC cars of yesteryear sound terrible. IMHO of course.

Re: Coolest cars you've seen
It sounds pretty rough eh? Last week the same thing happened to me, except that the Turbo was a Targa. Porshce 911's has the weirdest sounding engines, ever.. Heh! Boxer motors always sound odd. It's why Imprezas sound so terrible regardless of how heavily they're tweaked. Clattery and almost diese...

Re: Track Days
The first point of call for any track-driven car is the brakes. My old S2 (mentioned earlier in this thread) was running some epic Porsche 4-pots all round, and my old CSL ran 6-pot AP's. For the odd track day some decent lines, 5.1 fluid and fast road pads will do you, but if your hitting the track...
