Re: SHIFT Stats Site
Honest opinion? If it works as advertised by you, it's the best thing since sliced bread. Makes a couple of threads here obsolete.

Re: NFS Shift user reviews
^Opening up for mods can be opening a door to heaven or it can be opening a can of worms. You just don't know. Every time you install a mod, you take a chance. It's as simple as that. Allowing for new car models, performance tweaking and all that sort of things inevitably leads to cheap people cheat...

Re: SHIFT: Still Playing?
Dropped it a few weeks ago. Been playing Batman and replaying Assassin's Creed now in anticipation of the second. Going to play Modern Warfare again in anticipation of that second, too.. later on Mass Effect.. once more in anticipation of the second of that :P If they fix it and finally give me a ga...

Re: SHIFT Patch Details Announced
Granted, pc sales have been far less than console sales, but given that we're talking 100 million copies +, even a 2.5% of that is still a rather sizeable chunk of players left stranded and unable to play the game decently. Regardless of the size of the target group, the issues at hand for pc users ...

Re: SHIFT Patch Details Announced
That's exactly my point - the fact that it is common practice does not make it (more) acceptable. As for the big chunk being small - As far as I know, ATi won fair and square the last release of graphics cards with the HD4870 over nVidia's 2xx series. Sales numbers confirm this. This means that the ...

Re: SHIFT Patch Details Announced
For me I'm looking forward to the fixes for the Corvette and Viper; I'm tired of having to quit online manufacturer races with those cars 'cause I know I'll never leave the start line. Besides that, framerate improvements will also be welcome. Bring it on! :D Simply meaning that none of the issues ...

I'm not sure what your problem is, GT. How can you seriously defend this kind of a business model? If you buy a box of meat and it says ox on it, and you later find out it's chicken, is that ok too? If I hire you to be an architect, but your job description turns out to be a mechanic, are you happy ...

Not to mention you're comparing apples and oranges. It's called a metaphor. It's not meant to be taken literally. Insert whatever other, more suitable case you might have in mind, if it's easier for you to handle. I guess though, there's some sense in having the general public do your final beta te...

Re: SHIFT Patch Details Announced
On the contrary, I fully expect that many of these issues were 'known deliverables' prior to release. The key thing is to get the game onto shelves and into little Johnny's XBox at the right time of year. These days most software is shipped with the expectation that one or more patches will ship la...

Re: Has EA missed the window?
^Agreed. It is however your choice to buy it or not. If you want to make a statement, don't buy it. Buying and later on complaining doesn't make much sense. The damage is done - EA got their money. As for the life of an online racing game - that depends on the game, or rather the fanbase it attracts...

Has EA missed the window?
The title refers the patch that supposedly should fix all of our problems (bouncy bug, graphical glitches, inherent instability, and so on). I imagine we should call this patch 1,2. Now, I'm asking because the lifespan of most non-mmo games is usually between 1 and 2 months. Solid blockbuster games ...

^Hmmmm =/. I thought I'd stopped earning anything from racing the same race over and over. Do I really remember wrong? Like.. you get x amount of money for this and that star. Once you've earned them, you can't get that money again. I thought it worked that way. You're telling me it doesn't? Well.. ...

Re: SHIFT Milestones
The primary aim of any game is to attract as many people as possible - sell as many copies as possible. The secondary goal of any game is longevity. Shift wasn't designed to be a pick-up, play, shelve in a month-kind of game. It's arcade and thus approachable in a pick-up-and-play kind of way, but t...

Re: All Car On Nordschleife (update Tier 2)
^Any mistake at all is fatal for a hot lap. Re: All Car On Nordschleife
^Cheating is easy. Just look at what zedex has done to win the spinning out challenge thing. With a basic understanding of xml and game modding, you can boost your car's attributes to the point it's not funny any longer. Add some assists and away you go. if you think is not representative, its ok wi...

Re: SHIFT Milestones
Depends on the level of assistance. Dumb down the game enough and the playing field will be levelled between single-input controls, like a keyboard, and the full scale analogue controls, like a wheel. The pad is somewhere in between. Not exactly a good interface, but better than a keyboard. Not as p...

Re: Which music you listen while racing in Shift?
I guess as a rule of thumb, music serves to carry the player in games that do not require much skill and precision. In games that are more simulation-intensive and require more attention, music only distracts and gets in the way.

Re: All Car On Nordschleife
There is some truth to what you are saying, but since there are big differences in Time, this will show the best Cars with 100% certainty. If we were talking about a couple of seconds difference, then you would be correct. Example: If someone wants to make sure that RX-8 is really better then S2000...

To the people mistaking this thread for being an accurate representation of the performance of the cars ingame: All this thread shows is the times an average user can get, when quickly jumping into a new car and taking it for a spin. It is NOT representative of the actual performance of the car. You...

Re: SHIFT Milestones
Clean race does not mean clean lap. It means clean RACE. It means any kind of contact with walls or opponents will cause a forfeit of that particular reward. If you want a guaranteed clean race, I suggest standing still at the start and letting the AI plough ahead, then taking the race slowly, witho...
