I'm pretty sure the handling / physics of these cars are already changed.
The names of the car files of the AI cars all start with e3_ and the normal demo cars start with demo_. So those cars are probably outdated versions.

The speedchallenge test tracks are kind of boring though, but the cars are awesome =)

I've heard the Wii version DOES have online modes and DOES have a damage system comparable to the ones on the x360 and ps3.
But if you can confirm what you say with official facts, then I guess it's true.

I think you'll get a much cooler experience of the game when saving up for an X360 =)
You could always consider renting/borrowing PS from someone or from a store to test the full version on your laptop, if you don't like it you can always choose to save up for an X360 ^^
