Re: What car do you drive ?

Loving the dish on the wheels. How far are you stretching the tyres? I'm contemplating a set of HRE 540R'sfor the A4 in 18" with a nice big stretch. Thanks man. :) Theyre 195/50s stretched over an 8J rim. Theyre not stretched enough so that they look daft, but theyre still stretched to the poi...

Re: TECH TALK - ask your technical car questions

Umm... firstly, the R34 is cheaper, parts are cheaper and more readily available in Australia. I think the boxers are bigger though, but don't know. Price: R34, Potential... possibly the Boxer, because of the larger capacity, and subies have put out 500kw before, which is around that figure. Its ex...

Re: It's time for me to start driving

I can't stand if something doesn't work like it should. Ill back that up. I remember driving past a group of girls in my S13, dropping it a cog, flooring it and then releasing the throttle next to them to ''show off'' by scaring them senseless with the BOV. Fortunately, it didnt work, because my I/...

Re: TECH TALK - ask your technical car questions

The chassis of a car is the strongest point anyway, so most manufacturers will build them strong enough that even for most applications, if you double the power the chassis will remain fine. It all depends on the car.

Re: It's time for me to start driving

Yep, it was a Nissan Terrano engine. So nice and strong, torquey etc. CA's are actually really good engines when theyre looked after too.

Re: It's time for me to start driving

And much thanks to Grez for being the only one who doesnt give a shiznit what I drive at my age and for all of the help. No worries. For what its worth, I cant see any real reason why you would lie about buying a 240SX. Theyre slow, all of mine have been spectacularly unreliable (but then most of t...

Re: TECH TALK - ask your technical car questions

Definitely. The biggest concern when increasing the power of an engine in a car like the 911, particularly the RWD variants, is that its very, very easy to mess the way the car drives up. A lot of money and research is spent on cars like these, to ensure the chassis, the brakes and the suspension ar...

Re: It's time for me to start driving

Not a bad engine, but a bad car. +1 to that, the engine is fantastic. Look up Steve Guglielmi and his Elise for just how good that engine can be. I like the styling of the Mk5, though only the sportier ones. My dads 406 shocker collapsed fairly recently, and he was given two courtesy cars over the ...

Re: It's time for me to start driving

Mk1 GTi? Mk2 Rallye? Mk2 Aniversary? They're the only REALLY good ones. This is all IMO of course, but I hold a genuine hatred of Golfs, especially their drivers. Obviously this is a sweeping generalisation (a mate at work drives a MK2 GTi), but it counts for the most part. I have to say, I havent ...

Re: What car do you drive ?

Have to admit, I can see why you bought the bike for UK roads, if I had big enough testes I might even join you...but I dont.

Just be careful man, as you're no doubt aware, most people here are too stupid to look out for other cars, never mind bikers.

Re: It's time for me to start driving

And not to mention that if I were in your shoes it's not that you want a cheap ricer over a considerably better built European car (I sure wouldn't given the choice)... It's just that you can't afford one... Well now that depends. If I wanted a well distributed, lightweight and torquey sports car, ...

Re: First car You ever drove or will drive.

This may explain why I've never found the EK's interesting to drive at all :P Have to admit, I was driving it for 3 days while mine was being MOT'd, and its the first time ever Ive understood why some people just arent interested in cars. It really is just a tool to get from A to B...although mines...

Re: First car You ever drove or will drive.

Id modify the suspension and steering first. My other half drives an EK (which coincidentally shes selling...), and honestly, you turn the wheel and nothing really happens until you give it another full turn. Brakes are fantastic, though.

Re: What car do you drive ?

@ Grez: Wow, what a ripoff. The word "cheaply" should have put up a red flag in your mind, in my opinion; but hey, I guess if you were busy and it sounded like a good deal, I can understand - if you had other things to do, I guess spending a few hours fixing your car may not have sounded ...

Re: What car do you drive ?

Its actually a guy who has done work for me before, but this is the first time hes had to take it to the garage where he works and leave it with someone else to work on, as hes not an MOT tester. Re: It's time for me to start driving

Not to be a stickler for accuracy again, but the 240SX comes with the KA24DE, a 2.4L N/A engine producing 140bhp . It barely has the power to move out of its own way. 140bhp in a car weighing 1190kg will never be fast, and certainly no more dangerous than walking across the street, or trusting your ...

Re: What car do you drive ?

Going off on a slight tangent, Im now refusing to ever take my car to a garage, ever again. Once a year, you are legally obliged to get a garage to check the car for the MOT, so the car is deemed roadworthy. They offered to service the car ''cheaply'' while it was there, and being a busy man of late...

Re: What car do you drive ?

Well, Mazda invested a LOT of money to make the MK3 share the same handling characteristics as the MK1, even down to the levels of grip, oversteer etc etc. The only problem was that the EU bumped a +30mm ride height rule on UK MK3s, so from the factory the alignment is terrible. Id happily own any G...
