Always loved that spoiler, my friend has it on his S14A too (along with JDM bumpers).

Re: Popular Japanese cars during the 80's - 90's

You have to be careful where that information comes from though, I'd struggle to believe an NSX can only hit an 8min 30 second full-lap. Afterall, a full lap is supposedly BTG +16 secs for the straight, meaning that, BTG our lowly hairdressers cars are quicker than an NSX. I'm hoping for a sub-8 wit...

Re: Popular Japanese cars during the 80's - 90's

That's not particularly quick, I can think of 3 near-stock powered MX5s that can comfotably pull that kind of time (mine included :P ), and through gearing these cars will top out at ~137mph, and won't reach those speeds anywhere near as quick as an M3 would. Though the 'Ring is a fast paced circuit...

Re: What car do you drive ?

240sx are lame.. 2.4NA (KA24DE).. euro/jap spec ones are much better if i say so myself ;) Out of the box, maybe. But the KA is a better engine than the CA will ever be, and most high powered KA-Ts are putting out better torque curves than SRs could dream of. There is truth in the logic 'there's no...

Re: Popular Japanese cars during the 80's - 90's

The NSX was gorgeous, and probably handled/handles wonderfully, but it was woefully underspecced. Slower than an E36 BMW M3 that cost around 2/3s as much? No thanks... But it would have pulled the pants of that E36 (an already great handler)down around a track, and that was always the point. :P Unf...

Re: Popular Japanese cars during the 80's - 90's

Zero260 - Not at all mate, your post does outline a lot of popular JDM cars. At the time, I would go for a safe bet with equivalents of EUDM cars. I would have said the 180SX, given the popularity of the RS turbo and Porsche 944 over here would have been popular. The Eunos Roadster, as it's still th...

Re: Popular Japanese cars during the 80's - 90's

For what it's worth, none of those cars were particularly popular during the time they were sold. While they have a huge fanbase nowadays, in the 90s it was still about old Fords and Vauxhalls. Out of all the kids in our school, we were the only ones that liked Japanese cars, and that was largely be...

Re: Texhnolith's 1998 Nissan Silvia S14a (200sx) SR20DET

i don't know why people keep bashing your choice of brand. they all improve a stock car so what's the point in arguing over a specific brand for more than an entire page? Tex has tested evidance (from people who drive a similar car) that this suspension will do what HE wants. not what anyone else w...

Re: Grez's 1991 Miata Roadster

Bogan - The turbo was good, actually. It's a variant of the TD04 I have, she's putting out a nice 153bhp @ 5psi, but the power-band/torque curve are fantastic, fuelling controlled by an E-manage blue. The car is in desperate need of an alignment so it's difficult to say for sure, but it seemed plent...

Re: Grez's 1991 Miata Roadster

Haha, the most popular comment so far has been that it looks like a lego car now! I've loved the red/white combo since seeing it on an incredibly clean GD Impreza at a show several years ago. I was tempted by black, but I thought the details of the wheels would be hidden then. Haz - The motion shots...

Re: Grez's 1991 Miata Roadster

It's true, they're only really any good for mid-top end power, which suits me fine as I love mashing through the gears and revving the poor girl until there's nothing left! My biggest issue is whether they'll flow enough air, but I'm assured they will. Still un-decided as to whether it would be wort...

Re: Favorite Car?

And the GT-R has a limited top speed while the GT2 doesn't. Only the JDM GTR's are limited. EUDM/USDM cars aren't. For what it's worth, the 997 Turbo has been destroying geaboxes at around the same rate as the GTR, but Porsche have been covering them under warranty, Nissan haven't. What that says t...

Re: Texhnolith's 1998 Nissan Silvia S14a (200sx) SR20DET

Just to add my two pence... K-Sport and Apex are re-branded D2s, and I have to agree with Bogan that the price in the kit does indeed affect the quality. I don't think you realise just how many people have had problems with leaking valves with these units, that's the biggest reason that I ended up g...

Re: Mazda RX-7 or nissan 350Z??

If you could find an RX7 in absolutely untouched perfect condition I would believe the RX7 would actually be more expensive than the 370Z. Not the other way around. RE:Amemyia recently sold their Time Attack JP car (700+bhp) for £26k. That was a full-on race car. A concourse RX7 would struggle to ...

Re: Grez's 1991 Miata Roadster

I know, I know. It's been a while. The only real updates to the car are that I've lowered the car to sit -45mm from stock, the rear camber is now at -1.7deg (the fronts still need adjusting), and I've painted the wheels white. I'm meeting with a friend on Sunday who has just bought a TD04 equipped c...

Re: New car?, want more performance or Looks? Come here and ask!

I'd simplify your options. A 4A-GTE is never going to be happy, the engine by it's design likes to rev, throwing a peak power figure that comes in halfway through the powerband will mean the car constantly feels like it's in the wrong gear. Toyota produced a 4A-GZE (s/c'd) for this very reason, it w...

I've only just realised that I hadn't posted it up in here, but I abandoned the idea of an SR swap a while ago now. At the moment, the car is set up perfectly for me, and on the exit of turns I have just the right amount of grip and balance to punch well above the cars' weight. I just couldn't justi...

I now have some Pit Crew Racing carbon fibre interior goodies (instrument cowl, centre console, gear knob). OK, so they're not exactly performance-enhancing, but they look so cool. :D Pics will follow soon...Two poor ones from my phone: http://img387.imageshack.us/img387/7810/x1lm3.jpg http://img95....
