Re: RX-7 FC rebuild - False Start...
Supra Getrag is the way to go. The Holden/Chev guys around here seem to love them, and therefore you can get a new one (or just parts) from any shop that deals in drag racing gear. Not to mention that reco'd and s/h units are all over the place too. If you're making enough torque to smash a V160 (un...

Re: Popular Japanese cars during the 80's - 90's
Ya, they definitely sold AE86s in the US back in the '80s. I see loads of American hachi's on Speedhunters, plus I know a US guy who used to race them back when they came out.
But same as the rest of the world, they have probably gone up in price a fair bit.

Re: What car do you drive ?
+1 for the above, Holdens/Fords are rubbish. And that sentiment extends to the entire GM and Ford global conglomerate. I'm glad that I work in a heavily Asian-populated area where most of the cars that come in are Japanese. But even good companies like Toyota are starting cheap out and go backwards ...

Re: Cars, law and other confusing topics.
Interesting story. I think one of the big reasons why nobody contests the supposed legislation is 'effort'. To go to court means taking days off work, and forking over wads of cash for lawyers and legal fees. And even then there's not a good chance of being successful unless you have a strong case. ...

Re: RX-7 FC rebuild - Finally!
Once that's done it should be good for harassing coppers again :D Good luck with that . . . I know that if I get pulled over in my MR2 just once, it would be taken off the road forever. So harrassing cops is probably not the way to go. It doesn't even matter if your car is road legal, they will jus...

I still have a Wii and DS Lite, and between my housemates there is one PS2, one PS3 and one broken Xbox360 (it's been sent back twice already, keeps breaking!)
Definitely upgrading to a 3DS when it comes out.

I thought Inception was quite good. Leonardo DiCaprio is rubbish (as always) but the storyline was excellent. Stil had some minor flaws in other areas but overall I really enjoyed it. Recommended!

Re: TECH TALK - ask your technical car questions
Your cables might be corroded inside. Its very common and not that hard to fix sometimes. Usually when a terminal is corroded your cable is shot. I know it's entirely possible for the main ground and power cables to corrode inside, and it does happen, but I've never seen it personally. It would be ...

Re: TECH TALK - ask your technical car questions
If you want to check the alternator, then you need to get the car started again. If there is not enough juice then I'm suprised that jump-starting didn't work. Did you use good quality jumper leads? If not then borrow some good ones, it does make a difference. Remember to clamp the negative jumper l...

Re: Just want to talk? Come here.
Does "decent performance" mean straight-line speed? Because for $7000 you won't do much better than a Commodore/Falcon, or some other 6 cylinder boat. Option #2 is to buy something small, light and cheap (like a Civic) and then chuck on some good suspension, pads and tyres. Most fun you co...

Re: Just want to talk? Come here.
An MX5 would be a great choice if you can afford one (surely the NAs are not that expensive?)
Otherwise, I would go for an S13 or a hotted-up Civic/Integra.
All of those cars have massive aftermarket support, good reliability and are fairly easy to work on.

Re: BLiT's 10th Gen. 'Rolla! (Picture Heavy)
The harmonic balancer is the crank pulley. It bolts onto the end of the crankshaft at the front of the engine. There should be nothing wrong with it, assuming that your car is low-mileage (looks like it). Also it's quite hard to reach unless you pull some stuff off the car. So from what you describe...
