Re: TECH TALK - ask your technical car questions
Anywho, I held off on buying a pulley set (crank pulley, mainly) because I've heard mixed reviews on their reliability and wasn't sure it was worth the 5hp I might gain. A replacement pulley will only gain HP if it's an underdrive pulley. And an underdrive pulley is a very bad idea on a street car....

Re: How to blow up an EG Honda Civic
20psi and beyond. The turbo that's on there at the moment (T25 from a BNR34) won't make that kind of boost but it will be fine for the first stage of the build. The motor is totally stock but we're going to de-comp it, down to about 8:1. ECU will be a full stand-alone Megasquirt 1 PCBv3.0. Electroni...

How to blow up an EG Honda Civic
First, we need a Civic. Preferably a crap one that is no longer registered and ready for the scrapheap. And also free. (I have two, in case you were wondering. Spare parts woooo!) It also helps if you are unemployed and have lots of free time. . . . Then we start doing this! http://img405.imageshack...

Re: Carcrazy's 1990 Nissan 240SX Build Thread
If it's a lot of white smoke then I would say the head gasket, but it could also be a cracked head or a cracked block.
You need to get the car in your hands first, then we can start doing something.

Re: Carcrazy's 1990 Nissan 240SX Build Thread
KA24E . . . . . oh my. If you think the head gasket has popped then you need to check that first. Is the car losing any coolant? You need to pressure-test the cooling system and see if water is going into the cylinders. What did the mechanic do to the car to try and fix it? When you say it's not run...

...Getting there? What the hell do you plan on doing to it next? :o Ah, just some finishing touches. It still needs some time on a dyno to get tuned properly. Then it's off to the fabrication shop for a roll bar and a custom seat rail for my Kirkey race seat (which has been sitting in my bedroom fo...

Re: Just want to talk? Come here.
Wow, bogan... your MR2 is looking pretty damn quick! You did a great job on making the engine awesome. Very impressive stuff. Cheers :) Still has some ways to go, but it's getting there. And yep, the engine I have is a Gen 1 3SGTE. Less reliable and not as quick... but it's still good. Ye...

Ok, so a few weeks ago I went down to Calder Park with some friends and workmates. We took my blue MR2, and a couple of STi Imprezas. Finally got my hands on the videos, so here it is! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kglkfqBBNwY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q06QpeC11iQ I made 4 passes in total, non...

Re: Just want to talk? Come here.
On a positive note; My plans to restore my '89 Celica is almost underway. Bought the donor car over in Brisbane, flew over there and drove it down to Sydney over four days, stuck it on the back of a train, flew back over to Perth, then picked it up at the Perth train station and drove it home. :P F...

Re: Post your system specs!
Well the XFast thing didn't help at all. I think it's a problem with power management settings. Something is turning off the USB port after a certain amount of time (which seems random) and stops whatever operation I'm trying to do. I disabled every power-saving feature I could find and that seemed ...

Re: Post your system specs!
Oh, I am not using the WD drives anymore. Someone told me they are not good for RAID so I went with Samsung instead.
I just noticed one of the features on this MB called XFast USB, which somehow accelerates the USB3 performance. I tried turning that feature off, maybe it will work this time.

Re: Flatout: UC Fps problems
Just an idea... it's a long shot, but maybe the game doesn't like multicore CPUs?
I remember trying to play Rainbow Six 3 a while ago (2004 game) and it would also run like a slideshow.
Disabling all CPU cores except for one fixes the problem.
Maybe worth a try with Flatout??

Re: HALP! I needs a new PC
Cool, thanks Pabl0z. With the PSU, I used some online PSU calculator and it recommended 950W, so I just went with the next step up for a bit of headroom. If it's way overkill then I'll get the 1000W instead. Never really thought about SSD, I figured they would be too expensive. If it's as good as yo...

Due to overwhelming response, I decided to knuckle down and try to do my own research (until 2am on a work day lol). HALP! I needs a new PC
So, the computer I have now is a total mish-mash of new and old parts that have accumulated over the last few years. It still runs XP and it's getting a bit too old and fat for modern games. Time to upgrade. I don't really keep up with the latest trends in PC'ing so this is where you guys come in! T...
