image import problem

I have all the tools to export and import images i also have the .8bi patch for paint shop pro 6 for dds files but i dont know how to save in p8 pallete and i get a message that the image is not in a8r8g8b8 format when i try to import. can somebody tell me exactly what i must do from the biginning to the end!!!
