Yet another new Mercedes:

2007 Mercedes Benz SLR 722 Edition

No, the 722 doesn't stand for the amount of horses it's got. (unfortunately) :?

Did you know that Aston Martin are thinking of making a 4-door DB9?

It's already in development and called Rapide, if correct.

I personally don't think anything that has over 400 hp should have 4 doors, but then i look at the M5 and I say nevermind

Yeah and it's not just based on the DB9 specifically.

All of the the current Astons use the same VH platform which has been designed to stretch to any length/width. Not only does this save time for the engineers, but all Astons can be built on the same production line, including the new Rapide.

Why bother with a new version of the SLR when you can give yours to Barabus and get them to make 866nhp out of it? :D

Code: Select all

Could this be the next Ferrari supercar :?:

This is the Ferrari 330 P3, for a comparison.
They have some parts in common and look basicly the same.

almost every bloody car has DOHC
even my moms Hyundai Lantra has DOHC. it is the that it has 4 valves for each cylinder and the valves ar driven by 2 camshafts.
that is all it stands for Double OverHead Camshafts.
Older cars with 4 cylinders had 8 valves and where driven by 1 camshaft.
Back in the days that Honda placed the DOHC on their CRX's (in big) and on other cars. it was something new. and 16v engines where better, smoother and more economical engines, compared to the 8v version.

The thing what made honda engines have a high hp per CC is not the DOHC but the (i)VTEC systems.

If I am not mistaken some american cars still use a single camshaft for each row of cylinders.
Don't know wich exactly so won't name names

True, yeah.

Man, I can't believe that some idiots that know jack about cars praise DOHC like ricers do the same thing with Type-R.

Stupid wannabe racer: LMFAO look at that shiznit!! Dawg, he's runnin' SOHC!!
Stupid brother: LMFAO you'd so pwn him with your shizzle DOHC!!111oneoneone

It's called a pushrod engine

The camshaft resides in the block, and reciprocates pushrods that move the rockers. Then the rockers push on the valves. So it's not just a single camshaft for each row of cylinders, it's a single camshaft for the whole engine.

It's popular among the V8 crowd because it's cheap, reliable, and very compact (a 5.8L Windsor pushrod V8 takes up less space than a 4.6L Mustang DOHC V8, for example)

And yes, many American and Australian V8's still use the pushrod desgn to this day.
