Still Core 2 duo is much better than AMDs Dual Core.
Edit: here, read this, and see the performance results.

You would be better off to get the E6300 Intel Core2 Duo and voila, you have something that (stock) can beat the AM2 4200+ and also it has a crapload of overclocking headroom which you can then overclock it past even the Intel X6800 conroe, and to think it costs a fraction of the cost.
Also, why are you bothering with an nForce 4 SLI motherboard?
If you're after a decent AM2 motherboard (even though you should really go for the Core 2 Duo) then grab yourself the Foxconn C51XEM2AA- 8EKRS2H.
Mainly this and this.

Not anymore. If you don't believe me then have a nice look through AnandTech's review over it.weedman173 wrote:I've used Intel processors quite a bit, I want to try AMD to see how it is cause AMD is more suited for gaming than Intel is.

In my honest opinion, you're going to be wasting your X1900XTX through having the 3800+. Consider this, you have a fast video card and decent RAM but will have a slow CPU.
It doesn't matter if you're a hardcore gamer or not, the E6300 is a better choice and you wont need to upgrade anytime soon either.

it costs what, an extra 40 dollars but easily makes up for it in the long run.

ASUS P5NSLI Socket 775 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI Intel Edition.
Review of it can be found here http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2820 .
- EDIT -
Hmmm, seems it supports 667MHz DDR-2 RAM not 800 which is what you're after however just give it a bit and then the 590SLI boards should be avaliable then (they support 800).

That's not true. AMD only got the ''Gaming processor'' status because it performed slightly better in games, but next to that, it actually isn't that special. Processor = processor.weedman173 wrote:I've used Intel processors quite a bit, I want to try AMD to see how it is cause AMD is more suited for gaming than Intel is.
Even if Intel gives us new processors with better performance compared to AMD processors, they still won't get that Gaming Processor status. We only say that they're better at the moment.
It's the whole package that does the job.
Even if you are taking a E6300, it's still the bottleneck of the whole system. But really, it doesn't matter. X2 3800+ or E6300, both will do fine. Unless you are really seeking for the best and newest, the E6300 is the way to go. Then again, both chips has its advantages and disadvantages. The Gravedigger wrote:In my honest opinion, you're going to be wasting your X1900XTX through having the 3800+. I'm not exactly familiar with DDR2, but couldn't the boards frequency simply be increased so it'll run at 800MHz?The Gravedigger wrote:ASUS P5NSLI Socket 775 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI Intel Edition.

Got my camera and took some pictures before I put everything together Also, please pay no attention to all the crap in the background, I haven't cleaned my room in a while.
Heres all of the parts excluding the case and monitor, the case will be in the other pictures below.
Heres a view of the clear side of the case, don't want to remove the plastic until its all put together.
Heres a view of the front of the case.
Heres the top of the front of the case with the BMW headlights and grill.
Heres where I had to remove the top case fan to make room for the power supply that was an inch longer than the stock one, the fan that was there will be used in the rear of the case.
My 20.1" Widescreen Monitor.
