Like BLUECIVIC said, the shadow looks a bit wierd. It looks photoshopped in or something but the water looks realistic.

...Taking a while though.

Oh, and I think http://www.peugeot-concours-design.com/index_en.htm & http://www.designerspace.com/peugeot-de ... -2007.html would be great for you ibi. Just check out the prize! :o

It's so sexy in black! :o

It looks a lot better than my previous render. Though I should really start modelling in 3DS rather than just importing. :?

Too true. I consider myself to be an above average modeler, but that has very little to do with designing and creating completely original and unique vehicles. I doubt I could ever come up with something that amazing.

Ps. Latest work at SR3, a ´57 Chevy: http://www.showroom3.com/entry/15292

Should I be cutting out parts (doors, bumpers, etc.) before or after I use mesh smooth?

Heck yes before! NEVER EVER apply mesh smooth/subdivision to the whole thing, because that will collapse the modifier tree and you won't be able to tweak anything after that.

Always smooth objects invidiually or in small groups.

Or if for example you have the car frame as single object, use mesh edit and detach it to smaller objects (hood, quarter panels, bumpers, doors, etc.). That will also collapse the modifiers, but atleast you'll have more control over what to smooth and how much.

I am for the first time ever attempting to use 3DS Max 7 to model my car with inaccurate photos rather than blueprints with zero skill... wish me luck  Heres a preview:

Good basic frame, shape seems to almost outlined. Make it two sided perhaps so the interior starts to take shape aswell. It's time to start detailing it indeed...

(sharp corners, detaching the mesh to separate car panels if you want to (doors, hood bumbers, etc),
