I just bought an ASUS N6200. I put it into the AGP slot, but when I turned my computer back on, this came up:
"101-Option ROM Checksum Error
An add in card in your system is not working correctly. If you have recently added new hardware, remove it and see if the problem remains. If this message goes away after you remove your new hardware, there may be a problem with the add in card."
What's wrong? is there a way to bypass this? (This is my first card purchase, upgrading from a GeForce 2!)
yeah, it said to take it out, so I did and put my old card back in. The old card works; the new one doesn't. Is the memory fried, or is the card (AGP 8/4X) trying to display in 8X? My mobo can only support 4.
Right, so the card has a problem. Take it back to the store and get a replacement. It doesn't matter what's wrong with it - it just doesn't work. Take your mobo spec with you this time.
Errr... why would you even bother trying to upgrade something as old (and lame) as that?
My advice would be to save your money and get the money together and buy newer parts including a motherboard which can support AGP 8x.
when your computer boots, it will say something like "press f1 to enter setup
" or f10 or delete or something, go in their and look for video and see what it says.
