I downloaded the demo. Unimpressed by it.
1. It is very resource-consuming. You need a monster computer just to play it decently.
2. The maps are too big and bland. If you don't find yourself a vehicle, you'll find yourself walking too much.
3. So after walkiing for 5 minutes, you see the enemies and instantly die. Back to the base and prepare yourself for another 5-minute run. (I know it's based on realism but damn it, it's a futuristic game)
So, I don't really like this game and I think I'll stick with UT2K4 for my shooting needs...

Interesting info about the retail release of BF 2142.

Let's see, if they're doing this for BF 2142 then seeming as it is the same company I'm betting that NFS: C will be running along the same sort of system as you have to register your game first before being able to actually playing it offline. This is one very bad way to sell a game in my opinion.

I have:
AMD Athlon64 X2 3800+ (2 x 2 GHz)
1 GB of PC3200
eVGA GeForce 7600GT (580/1500)
200 GB IDE Hard Drive
400 Watt PSU
MSI MS-7191 Motherboard
and I can run BF2142 with all quality settings set to high, 4x AA, and 16x AF @ 1024x768 resolution.
That is by no means a monster computer. In fact, it cost me less than $700 to build.
PS: Lack of widescreen support sucks ass. Goddamn EA ...
