I never liked any racing sims, they are very dependant on how developers do their job. For example game called something like NFC or something i really cant recall. So this game was hugely dependant on setups with all stuff you need. Gear ratios\suspensions\brakes\power\engine everything tuneable. Guess what. It became impossible to play it online(no career only online) after few weeks demo was out. Graphics were good, no lag, no cheaters either. But guess what, once some people with knowledge came into the game, they managed to actually make a right setup for every track. Guess what, all who used such ideal setups did in fact get fastest out-of-turn acceleration and best lap times. Racing sim imo isnt a good idea since youll always see some people who actually do same stuff in real life release setups into public or something and then its all down the hill.

Yeah, I second to your opinion. People are whining too much... I enjoy the short career very much - I can play it again and again not getting bored as I did with MW (I only played the career once in MW). I can use different tactics and cars each times. Good work EA. And I haven't explored the online mode yet. Just getting to know the cars and tracks at the moment.

yeah i played it at my friends place on ps2 and the game customization was wicked but again ea messed up the driving i dont like that. I prefer the NFSU2 handling. But I am good at drifting on the demo track 400 000 points

lol, I can catch up an R8 with a fully tuned Evo, that is lower than a Skyline. Don't say that the Skyline can't beat up the DB

I have 2 issues with Carbon:

1. The Career mode is WAY too short. Not a patch on MW.
2. The online modes can be summed up in 2 words: SERVER DROPOUT!!

yeh career is way too short & way too easy, even with the annoying crew members getting in the way all the time ("MOVE ASIDE IM FASTER THAN YOU ARGH" =P).

i think that carbon is actually geared towards online play though whereas most wanted had a fairly nice career gameplay thanks to the cop milestones etc.

i really like online canyon racing, its as good as drag racing back in underground1 when it was still really good.

didnt like drifting physics from the start, still dont like it, never will like it and thats that.

overall its an ok game, but most wanted was better.

I have to say something about the car sounds actually 1 car sound.

altought I love the sounds in Carbon, they have the same sounds as in MW like the Lambo's and BMW, but for some reason they messed up the sound of the Aston Martin.

The Aston Martin DB9 sounds like CRAP in the game. I got it with a pink slip from Wolf and it sounded horrible not at all like a DB9 sounds in real life.
And the weird thing is....

It sounded heavenly in MW.... I did not try a stock one, could be that it was tuned, have to check that out.
If it wasn't tuned I really wonder why EA did that, cause the DB9 was 1 of the best recorded sounds in MW

Here's a short summary of what I think:

- i agree that the career is way too short
- the gfx reminded me of NFSU1, as well as some of the tracks (not a bad or good thing)
- I found the crew members surprisingly helpful. I mainly used Samson and Nikki during races and they were really useful, though I must admit that occasionally they did block my path.
- I really enjoyed the canyon races, my pulse was actually racing in time to my throttle input lol
- the final race with Darius is weewee easy (i used a completely stock Carrera GT), and the ending is confusing but I guess it leaves the developers to insert another (boring) storyline.
- Something about the cops really irritated me, but I can't put my finger on what.
- most frustrating thing is that you cant use half the cars in the game except in the quick races. I was really looking forward to using the CCX in my career....
- online gameplay isn't a issue for me because I cant play anything online anyways lol

overall - I agree with Gamespot's score of 7.5/10

p.s - try racing with a tier 2 car vs tier 3 cars, its extremely challenging and fun :P

haha indeed, ea leaving room for a randomly generated storyline in the next nfs title rofl. as sum1 said sumwhere(4got) its essentially nfs:underground3. oh another annoying thing when you start the career game is that you dont know where you're going already so you dont really need the district names to be filling up the whole screen while you're driving (ghey).

what sucks about the cops is that everytime you lose them there will always (97% of the time) be a cop that spawns about 3-400 metres in front of you so basically what was quite an easy thing to do in most wanted becomes sumfin of a pain to do in carbon.

they really did lower cop involvement in carbon though, way too much though. i thought most of the cop stuff was quite good during the career mode in most wanted. the only thing over-the-top about it was the challenge of completing the rap sheet with that 45minute pursuit -____- so long... i eventually did one that lasted a bit over an hour.

my rating would be:
career mode - 7/10
challenge (not really) mode - 7.5/10
online mode - 8/10 <-- very lenient that is considering all the bugs, crashes, cheaters etc

In my opinion this game is a total disapointment except maybe for the customization, specially on the vinyls sections and aftermarket rims.

Autosculpt could be a lot better 5 diff bumpers and ss are really few, aftermarket bodykits are pretty much the same from M.W. and mainly widebody's..

Vinyl section is way awesome although its a really slow system and sometimes pretty confusing, but we can make some f*cking unique rides which is great.

About the gameplay, its really funny to see for example a skyline going 420 kph and the cops NOT eating your dust, sometimes even cops at level 1 can keep up at 320kph with their fat and "slow" cars.

Anyway the most anoying thing is the fact that from what? 50 cars? there are still a number of ones that arent customizable or even practically impossible to access like the MR2! what's the point. i dont have internet on the pc i play Carbon so i cant have a MR2.... WTF!!

Anothe question Why the hell isnt the 99 Eclipse gsx customizable??

E.A. is becoming real lazy!

My final comment about Carbon: Basicaly it's more of the same......

I'll give it 5/10

Wow... I beat Wolf with a Dodge Hemi thing car. I outran him in the first 15 seconds... (took 5 seconds to get infront)

If you race Wolf/TFK the last and have the Hemi, use it...

And I wonder if it's possible to beat the game by using one class the whole time... I'm trying muscle ATM... Not working in Darius's races. Viper or Z06, none are that good. The SLR owns... but I can't use it cause... it's a muscle car profile. :> (as in I'm using muscles only in it)

i dont know what it is about about carbon but i just dont like it as much as MW. dont get me wrong i think carbon is fun also but theres just something missing. the pursuits arent as intense and the overall driving experience isnt as good ( screeching tires on a straight-away in a muscle car doing 100 mph isnt cool ) for now im going to wait till a patch is releaesed to finish career ( 25 % ) b/c the random crashing is just too f*cking annoying

As compared to MW it sucks.I didn't like the 'crew',it just feels dumb.I rarely use my wingman.Plus the races are boring,i was dissapointed that Drag was left out as it was one fo my favorite type of race.Overall i think the game is too predictable and probably the worst of the series.

Why cant they just do a NFS game were you could style the car like in NFSU2 + auto sculpting, remove the AI catch up system and have three or more difficulty options instead, make so that you can ram an AI car so they spin out of control like they can do on you, drift like in Carbon (track style not canyon), you could chose any car from the beginning but it is a car that you have to build up from scratch (maybe a car that have been in a collision) and the better the car is the more expensive the car parts is and harder to get, day and night races/free roam (day time cycle), LAN play with totaly free roam (crusing style) and were you and your buddy can race any race there is in the game and terrorize the cops, this i think would be the ultimate NFS game ever done.

That would be an amazing NFS game. I couldn't agree more.
NFSU2 were so good compared to NFSC.

Such game would take a good 2-3 years to create. Just think about programming the random AI behaviour...
