There is a guy down the street trying to sell it. Its in good condition, bad paint, rust, torn interior, but only over 100K miles and only needs a new clutch and battery. What is your take on this?
He keeps telling me its a rare car that is loved by the drifting scene. BS?

If hes trying to tempt you into a sale by saying that theyre well-liked for drifting, then one of two things are happening:
-He uses it for drifting, and the clutch validates this. Drifting takes its toll on a car, trust me on that as I did it for over a year.
-He thinks youre an idiot, and could well be ripping you off.
The last time I bought a car for less than 1k was the MR2. When I bought it, I thought ''even if it breaks, Ive only paid £900 for it''. It broke, and often. It was only when the engine died altogether that I decided to stop throwing money at it. You just dont trust driving a car you know will break shortly.

The old Zs dont make good drift cars. Theyre heavy, the weight distribution is poor, and they generally lack the balls to maintain any loss of traction.
Theres a reason SXs are liked for drifting, and the main one is that theyre cheap.
