The Athlon 64 X2 3800+ is the best cuz it's dual core but the Pentium is also good now it depends on your budget

The P4 isn't even remotely close in performance to the Athlon X2 3800+ or 4200+ ...

I would personally go w/ the 4200+ if you can afford it (should only be $20-$30 more) ...

Also, I would cop the X1950 XT over the 7950 GT as it offers much better performance for a simlar price (at least here it does) ... The only reason I would take the 7950 GT over the X1950 XT would be if you want a quiet system (any X1900/X1950 is frickin loud) or if you want to overclock as the 7950 GT has much more potential in that area.

i would get a 7300 GT if you are looking not to spend too much. i have one and it is great it can run FEAR and Q4 at some very high settings w/o being overclocked
when i got my comp i was going to get a intel pentium d but they were out. so i found a similar computer with the amd athlon 64 X2 3800+ and i am very glad. with 2 gb it runs very smooth

X1300 Pro is better for the money than the 7300 GT, IMO ...

Or, if you don't need gaming performance, just get a standard X1300 or GeForce 6600 ... Both are cheap (~$50 USD) and provide decent performance ...

personally i would get a 256 card, but then again since this is pci-e it will run a lot better than the agp ones i used, but do what you want. Also, I got thinking, is the 88 really the best bang for the buck? What card is?

Well I just found out that my parents aren't gonna buy the card from the internet so I checked a local store (Microcenter) and they have a 7300GT and a 7300GS and I see then as pretty much the same so whats the difference beween the GT and GS because I don't think theres any (they're both the same price as the 6600GT)

gt is better than the gs, higher clocks speeds and stuff.

http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics.html

Go there and compare the GS to the GT and you will see.
