Vista versions...
OK, so my dad ordered me Vista Home Basic. I want to know how it compares to XP versions. I'll just use it for Photoshop, Internet browsing, games, music, video, etc... (VERY minimal use of 3Ds Max.) Video editing aswell.
Is Home Basic really that bad?

Uh he said Vista home vs. XPs
Vista Home = Home XP {Pretty much the same kinda experience/No 3D Flip or Transparency}
Vista Home < Media Center Edtion 05 {Better media choices and UI}
Vista Home <Pro XP (86x/64x){Pro XP has better security}
If you have Pro or MCE then stick with em but If you have Home, then the upgrade won't feel that much difference other than the look of it (Unless you want Halo 2)(It's pretty much like a transformation pack for Home XP and if you want the 3D flip and stuff, you're not gonna get it with Home basic)

There are many differences between Home Premium and Home Basic, but the most apparent thing missing is the Aero Glass effects. Fortunately, Home Basic is pretty quick even on low-end machines. Definitely a lot quicker than XP with the pre-built, background-process-laden machines from the likes of HP or Dell.

My dad purchased a bunch of Windows 95 CDs for upgrades. I don't think I'll need to use the XP CD...prince1142003 wrote:I just heard that if you purchased a Windows XP w/ Vista Upgrade coupon, you will not be able to revert back to XP once you recieve and install Vista. Seems like Microsoft will invalidate the CD-key on your XP version.
