Play NFS Underground online.

I want to play online but it says i need a patch, it says error encountered when i click check for patch, i thought i had installed it, but it said patch not installed when i clicked play online in the game. pant, pant, pant :p
Has anyone else had this problem and if you havwe, how did you solve it.
