But ontopic, I'd rather buy a decent luxury high performance sedan (BMW M5) and invest the rest of the money into some stocks, so that later on I'd have enough money to buy a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640
$200K exotic car or $200K modified car?

last i heard the phaeton was a dud and the touareg isnt necessarily fast but the v-10 diesel does sound cool. lexus is doing the same thing vw tried with the phaeton by launching their LS 600 H L hybrid it is supposed to compete with the big sedans of bmw, mercedes, audi and so on.
if you want a brutal track car the new viper is what you want, if you want a more refined but less powerful everyday car the zo6 is what you want

The Phaeton is essentially an Audi A8, but about £10k cheaper. Not many get shifted because they don't have a prestige badge on the front. The Touaregs are actually damn nice, to be honest. Lexus suck and have always sucked, unfortunately.
A viper is not a brutal track car. A 911 GT3RS is a brutal track car. A Noble M400 is a brutal track car. A Radical SR8 is a brutal track car. A Ferrari 430 Challenge Stradale is a brutal track car. The Viper is a heap of overrated American pig iron which despite your claims to the contrary, does not handle.
A Z06 is hardly refined, but it's one of the best American cars I've ever driven. It does actually handle quite well, certainly for something that isn't from Western Europe or the Med, but it's still thirsty, ugly, ungainly and has next to no steering feel or feedback. Compared to something like a 911 Turbo, which is the mark it's gunning for, the holy grail of High-Performance Coupés, it's an uncultured, poorly built piece of dung.
And in Europe, it's much more expensive than a 911 Tubby. Probably explains why no-one here buys Z06's then. Paying more for less car.

@ darknight788: For the most part they are... Many high end European manufacturers produce their cars the good old way - by hand. These American car companies only think of mass production and do very little to give each car its own unique flare. And cars like the Porsche 911 can get an average of about 25 mpg, so 20 mpg is nothing to be too proud of, though it beats many Ferraris, Lambos, and Vipers.

exactly you are comparing hand built cars ie: rolls royce to assembly line ie: chevy. take opel for example a subsidiary of GM an american car company i doubt they hand build their cars. and it is car companies like audi ( now i do like audi ) that bring in swiveling headlights and guess what if and when one breaks it is around 700$ for a headlight ! the only difference is the cost of repair for the chevy will be alot less. and 20 mpg from a 7.0L v8 is pretty damn good considering a 6.0L ferrari 599 GTB gets 10 on a good day.

Well I agree, I don't like American cars but the Corvette (Especially Z06) is a really great car even though lots of people see it as a "poor-man's supercar". The mpg is partly due to the fewer cylinders that a Z06 has compared to Ferrari's V12s and Lamborghini's V10s. And if you are rich enough to afford a hand built car, then $700 is pocket change.
