Re: Videocards.. which to buy and whatnot.. simply videocards!
yeah i'm just gunna wait until i get more money together, then buy a better pc.
Re: Videocards.. which to buy and whatnot.. simply videocards!
is that really suprising considering such a resolution? lolt3ice wrote:The DX10 cards available in the market are kinda weak.
I've just seen a video/trailer of Crysis on a 8800Ultra at 2560x 1920, or some resolution like that,
and i could notice the low fps etc.
Is there any news of a 8900 or better gpx card yet?

yea i would want to see that @ 1024 X 768 resolution which is what i play most of my games at
Re: Videocards.. which to buy and whatnot.. simply videocards!
Strange cuz the usually most of us gamers have 19inch monitors so that means 1280x1024, so if you had a 8800GTX why would you play a game at 1024x784 when you can play at 1280x1024 with no lag? But i may have misunderstood you.

Re: Videocards.. which to buy and whatnot.. simply videocards!
dont know why , i have always just played them at that resolution, some games i play at 1600 x 1200
Re: Videocards.. which to buy and whatnot.. simply videocards!
I usually play my games at 1440x900 res ( 19" widescreen )
But most of the competitions held here ( WGC, CGS..etc. ) Have 21"-22.5" monitors, and most games play at very high resolutions.
Considering that, the 8800 Ultra, should be able to cream, any game at high resolutions.
BTW in the previous post i made an error, it was 1920x1080 resolution.

If your power supply does not have a six-pin connector already on it, then yes, you must connect to both the 4-pin plugs.

the ultra needs a six pin and an eight pin pcie. you'll need a new power supply for that.t3ice wrote:I usually play my games at 1440x900 res ( 19" widescreen )

nVidia is offering a new toy.
http://www.xbitlabs.com/discussion/3953.htmlBy Q4 2007 (Xmas) NVIDIA will be releasing their GeForce 9800 series GPUs.
Unlike previously expected the codename for nVidia's next generation GPU will NOT be "G90" but instead be "G92".
I have some info form NVIDIA insider about the upcoming G92 graphics processors.
G92 will be released in November 2007 timeframe in the form of "GeForce 9800" series.
"G92" GeForce 9800 GTX specs.
- 65nm process technology at TSMC.
- Over one billion transistors.
- Second Generation Unified Shader Architecture.
- Double precsion support (FP64).
- GPGPU native.
- Over one TeraFLOPS of shader processing power.
- MADD+ADD configuration for the shader untis (2+1 FLOPS=3 FLOPS per ALU)
- Fully Scalar design.
- 512-bit memory interface.
- 1024MB GDDR4 graphics memory.
- DirectX 10.1 support.
- OpenGL 3.0 Support.
- eDRAM die for "FREE 4xAA".
- built in Audio Chip.
- built in tesselation unit (in the graphics core"
- Improved AA and AF quality levels
Pros.
65nm process will allow for better yields and better power consumption. power consumption will be lower than that of a GeForce 8800 GTX.
GeForce 9800 GTX will be over two times faster than a GeForce 8800 Ultra in real world games and applcations.
Release date : November 2007. There will be TWO products at launch: The flagship GeForce 9800 GTX and the second fastest GeForce 9800 GTS.
price for the GeForce 9800 GTX will be 549-649 USD.
price for the GeForce 9800 GTS will be 399-449 USD.

Wow, those prices don't seem too bad for a card like that. That thing is a monster.

Re: Videocards.. which to buy and whatnot.. simply videocards!
Remember that the price is not bad for a card that is double the power of a 8800Ultra so imagine the prices for the 8 series they will drop like a stone we will be able to buy a 8800GTX for the price of the 8600GTS and the Ultra for the price of the 8800GTS 320mb. I can imagine how the guys who thought the 8800GTX will kick butt feel after this.

Re: Videocards.. which to buy and whatnot.. simply videocards!
^ yea i would be pissed right about ..... now after hearing that my 8800 w/e is going to look like crap compared to a 9800
Re: Videocards.. which to buy and whatnot.. simply videocards!
That's how it is w/ every new generation of cards (excluding the GeForce4 > GeForce FX catastrophe) ...
Re: Videocards.. which to buy and whatnot.. simply videocards!
Great, for once they're thinking economical...this means those who run already 8800GTX cards, dont need to upgrade their PSU.65nm process will allow for better yields and better power consumption. power consumption will be lower than that of a GeForce 8800 GTX.
Thats amazing considering the price ranges. I guess this eliminates all efforts of SLi.GeForce 9800 GTX will be over two times faster than a GeForce 8800 Ultra in real world games and applcations.

Re: Videocards.. which to buy and whatnot.. simply videocards!
would yu guys recommend a sapphire radeon x1650 pro for gaming, I am not looking for the best grphics out there, but I would like something decent and its about $112 ca
Re: Videocards.. which to buy and whatnot.. simply videocards!
It'll do medium settings at moderate resolutions fairly well, but I can help you more if you let me know what the rest of your system consists of. At CAD$112, you're into GeForce 8600 GT/HD 2600 XT (DDR3) territory, both of which are far superior to the X1650 Pro (especially if it's only DDR2).
These would be my choices in that price range:

BFG FTW!
I was gonna post an Nvidia BFG 7600GT Overclock, but newegg got rid of it.
BTW... is a 8600 worth it? If I have a 7600 GT OC X2(double-overclock)

AGP vs. PCI-E 1
AGP vs. PCI-E 2
Or if you wanted PCI instead of PCI-E, AGP vs. PCI
Probably more info than you want, but w/e.
