Rockstar wants to launch GTA only for the Next-Gen consoles. Those consoles have the power to amplify the power of GTA.Maybe, the next sequel will be a Virtual Life Simulator.

Good gameplay doesn't need technology as much as it needs good games designers.

Skyline_Man beat me to it

And please, no console war.

I have a theory as to why it was delayed.

Remember the whole, GTA IV wont work on a 360 without a harddrive? I believe they are creating one for the HD'less 360s. And, R* themselves did say that the PS3 version was significantly behind the 360 version

All in all, I believe we will see a less buggy/glitchy/crappy version of the game.

Well even know you say less buggy etc if there is bugs/glitches it can always be fixed by a update for PC and Xbox 360 users not too sure on PS3 though since i don't play PS3 online.

It was all over gamefaqs around July. If I find it, I'll be sure to post it here as soon as I do

EDIT: http://www.n4g.com/News-54522.aspx

You can find it on a few more sites, but that was the first one I saw

But if consoles' version was delayed to 2008,that means the PC one will be released in 2009...

Just to clear this up. The odds of a PC version this time are very slim.
It hasnt even been announced yet, sorry to say to all you PC gamers.

Quite true, considering that before the delay to a supposed 3/3/08 release, GTAIV was to be released on October 19 on PS3 and X360. Nothing planned for PC as of yet, apparently.

Not necessarily, considering the last couple of GTAs have only been on PS2/PSP.

Koenigsegg is right.
Also, for devolopers the console gamers are a stronger audience, as they buy the console for gaming, PC users arnt as strong, as in order to play some games, more money is dished out on upgrading. Just stating the obvious here, that most devolepers prefer console gamers.
The exception is RTS developers.

I want to randomly say that GTA will kick bum considering it is going to be a big city and it won't take 7seconds to reach the end on the street or to get somewhere it will be longer. :P so excited!

If there was no GTAIV for PC, it would be cool if there was a SA mod to make SA look like GTAIV, sorta like a skin mod or something..i dunno but it would be cool for the SA-MP players

The last GTA games were never officially announced for the PC until the console version were released, and usually with slight improvements to ease the suffering of waiting. I'm guessing R* will mark a date for the PC release some time in April. The lack of a PC version would be quite detrimental for the fan base, especially the modding community who have prolonged the playability of the other GTA games.

As I said, the last two games have ONLY been released on PS2/PSP. And, there have been rumours that R* are going PS3 exclusive after GTAIV. Don't pay me out just because I've got a PS3, because it is true, check http://www.n4g.com.

Umm also the last GTA's have also been released on Xbox but enhanced so it's better with the hardware... Like the engines on GTA3 for Xbox are all graphical and 3D as on PS2 the engines are only 2d textures.
