games going fast

why are games going faster than should. marc ecko's getting up is always going fast, sometimes even need for speed carbon and counter strike 1.6. when i restart computer things fix except getting up. what should i do? i tried google and found nothing that helps me. plz, anyone?

If I remember correctly, you have a AMD64 X2 right? If so, do you have the AMD Dual Core Optimizer installed?
