Dont you mean ATi tool?
and the 3000 series may not be as powerful as the ultra but its cheaper and uses less power not to mention its direct x10.1.It will be a single slot card so thats always a plus.

downloaded ATItool, and overclocked it a bit :D
just need to find out wheter i actually worked in terms of better performance, so im gonna play Supreme Commander for a while.....

i went from:
Core 297
Mem 270

To:

Core 380
Mem 300

I ran 'find max mem' completely, and it stopped around 302 mhz, so i put it to 300
I ran 'find max core' as well, though it didn't go any further then 381, without reporting artifacts. I did see an option where you could switch off the overclock lock on several ATI cards, including mine (9600 XT), but is it safe to do that (in other words: without burning my GPU to hell.....)

and is there any program that can tell my GPU's temperature?

it's a 9600 XT (which is like 4 years old) so i doubt it.....

BTW: just played SupCom, didn't notice that much difference.... :(

@ RVD The 9600XT has a thermal sensor. So ATi tool shold give you the a temperature read out. if not the CCC Catalyst Control Center should give you a temperature readout in the overdrive tab

Indeed ...

4 x HD 3850 256 MB cards in CrossfireX for $600 (or less) would be sweet ... and power consumption isn't too bad either ... You could probably get away w/ a $150-$200 750W-850W power supply :D

AMD's Spider platform looks awesome ... Now they just need to supply the CPU side of things ...
