For those of you who have their own web sites, I was wondering if you guys/girls can tell me how I can get more members or hits to my site...

Register on lots of forums, tell them about it. Talk with your buds about it...

And make sure that you have registered your site on all the search engines.

what kind of website is it? if you have the money go with registering it for search engines.

However, the only problem with that is the cost. We had a website which we registered. The costs were high as hell!

It's not free. There is a company called Overture (If i remember correctly). They charge you by the number of hits you get on the search engine. And believe me it costs a shiznit load

I tried that once, doesnt help squat. It will only serach by your specific keyword and how many people do i know that will type my specific keyword? none....

Dude, if ya really want more people, quit wasting your time, your not. Some sites that look great and are real .com php and all the good stuff, still may only get like 20 members so give it up, if you really want more people, spend money on search engines, and make sure you register a real domain name. Freewebs or Geocities will not get many hits... trust me, i tried.

For my site , i do personal advertising, as in i talk to my buds about it and they check it out, so next thing i know, my website is known well by Word of mouth so it really just depends.
