turbo or steerbox

Post by robin_nerf »

i dont know which is best to choose, i am in the performance shop now, and will choose my unique now, but i am not shure, which thing i should pick.

should i pick the unique turbo or the unique steerbox?

(i'm not shure that the name is "steerbox", my game is in swedish, and the name in swedish is "styrbox", so i think the english name is "steerbox")

Hehhe.. Steerbox is a direct translation of Styrbox..

But the word styrbox has nothing to do with the steering.. Sounds more like an engine management unit unique.

I'd choose the "Styrbox" ;) But don't listen to me, I don't like turbo, for me it's supercharger or n/a! :D The turbo unique will probably make more power...

I'm guessing styrbox = ECU (engine management)

Turbo = more power/torque
ECU = basically the same thing as turbo...

Hmmm... Isn't ECU the computer chip in your car? (Electronic Control Unit or something...) Whereas the Turbo is a blower, forcing more air into your engine? (Correct me if I'm wrong please, because I sometimes get turbo and super charger mixed up :P)

*sigh*

An ECU is an electronic chip that controls the engine's spark timings etc.

A turbo is an air compressor that works by using exhaust gasses to spin a turbine, which in turn spins the compressor, which forces compreesed air into the engine.

A supercharger is an air compressor that works by using a pulley that is attached to the crankshaft of the engine, and that is what turns the compressor so it can compress the air.

So . . . how is an ECU the same thing as a turbo?

I'm wondering that too... Thanks for clarifying that for me... I knew they weren't the same But I was just a little "in the dark" on the details :D

I think he means:

Turbo = more power/torque
ECU = basically the same thing as turbo... (in other words... more power and torque)

think about it in that way

thats it...
for the game, the uniques of ecu and turbo give the same performance upgrade...

maybe someone might post some screeners?

If they give the same, go for the ECU, no turbo lag ;)
Though that is a small issue to worry about.
Especially in NFSU 1 where I figured out a technique to shift dumplessly.
Which means when I upshift, there is no blowoff valve and I keep my turbo boost.
