Re: Die Cast
I have most of the cars form the D1 drift championships in detailed 1:24 scale. I also have a top secret 350z, a silvia promotion car tuned by nismo, and a 1:18 scale m3 gtr.
Re: Die Cast
Bought myself two new models for Chrissy (the Falcons). The Ford GT was a gift… and a bloody brilliant one They all have such amazing detail.
The Ford GT was the same car featured/designed for Gran Turismo 4 (also pictured on the games cover). I had my eye on this model for a while now… so best to grab one before they go completely out of stock. The second model was going to be the 24hour Aston Martin DBR9, but they can no longer be ordered

…So I got these instead :

Re: Die Cast
Holy crap, that GT is HOT
If you managed to get the DBR9 as well then I would have had a seizure.

Re: Die Cast
Hehe, thanks guys. I'm a little tiny-bit annoyed that I completely missed out on the Aston. Then again it was an extra $60 more then the cost of both Falcons combined, and it had a sealed body shell (non opening hood, doors, etc) so there was less detail then both Falcons. I’m still awaiting for a Biante Vanquish S to be released some time soon, as well as the Veyron… which has been approved!boganbusman wrote:Holy crap, that GT is HOT

Re: Die Cast
Wow, the GT that advertised GT4... lucky bugger...
I only have a few, not particularly rare, but a 350Z, complete with racing seatbelts, vinyls and sound system, a Viper RT/10 and the Plymouth Prowler. My dad, however, loves his VWs, and he has 400+, both big and small. Mainly Beetles, Karmann Ghias and Kombis, and a AU$500 drag bus that actually was never supposed to be released in Aus. And we didn't import it, either...

So, IMO it's better then the last DBR9 I was looking at, because it actually won the 24hour GT1 class... And I've heard of two of the drivers. Looks fantastic. Can't wait to see it when I get back. Many photo's coming

There's a reason FireFox has spell check.speed_man wrote:oooh yeah Definatley!!
Trust me, I'd know...
BTW: How much do one of these actually cost? I think it'd be a cool hobby to start, but some other things come higher up on my financial priorities.
Re: Die Cast
lol, thanks guys
@ carcrazy: If you have good sophisticated taste, like me… Autoart 1/18 models will set you back $110. So, it’ll be wise to save up for other, more important things. Only Nutheads like me buy stuff like this… but I think it’s worth it (also considering they are limited edition models, so the value often increases).

Re: Die Cast
* over 787B *
Bought myself a 1:24 scale Lamborghini Reventon today, hawt car but so-so model. Still, nice addition. And did I also forget to mention that I have a box full of potentially rare Hot Wheels 1:64 scale cars? probably about 500 or so, 20 of them T-Hunts. Old ones.

Re: Die Cast
Granted, these aren't die-cast, but they're the only models I've got that aren't Hot Wheels.
These are N-Scale (which ranges from 1:148 to 1:160, though I'm not entirely sure as to the exact scale of these models), and they're surprisingly detailed for how small they are. Model railroading is not a cheap hobby; there's about $500 worth of models on the table in these pics.
In other news, I ordered 4 AUTOart 1:18 models: 2004 Takata Honda NSX JGTC #18, 2005 Chevy Corvette Z06 C6R #3, 2004 BMW M3 GTR 24 Hours Nurburgring #43 and 2006 Mazda Roadster (NC) NR-A #01.

Re: Die Cast
Do you know how long it takes to, let's say double? About 10 or so years?jacoja06 wrote:@ carcrazy: If you have good sophisticated taste, like me… Autoart 1/18 models will set you back $110. There are probably better investments than model cars.

Re: Die Cast
Yeah, but at least these investments look pretty on a shelf.
Re: Die Cast
I'd really have no idea how long it would take to double... or even if it will double. You've just got to purchase the correct cars I guess. It depends on the rarity, and what people are willing to pay big bucks for. As an example, limited edition Beter Brock models have been in high demand since he died in 2006... so models of his race cars are now usually $200+ (1:18). Sometimes the certificate of authenticity comes with a signature from the driver, which is a nice touch.Carcrazy wrote:Do you know how long it takes to, let's say double? About 10 or so years?
I've owned my HRT Commodore for about 7 years now... and it's increased about $20 or so. My Panoz GTR-1 costs exactly the same (if not, less) then it was 7 years ago. I have a feeling that the value of the Aston LM GT1 winner, and the GT4 Ford GT (sold-out at Biante) will increase in the next few years, but my road cars will remain pretty much the same.
Ohh, very nice! Send us some nice photo's once you get them . The NSX in your link just looks beautiful.xHaZxMaTx wrote:In other news, I ordered 4 AUTOart 1:18 models: 2004 Takata Honda NSX JGTC #18, 2005 Chevy Corvette Z06 C6R #3, 2004 BMW M3 GTR 24 Hours Nurburgring #43 and 2006 Mazda Roadster (NC) NR-A #01.
I like the trains, too. I use to dream of having a detailed scale village in my room, with those model trains.
Re: Die Cast
Model trains can be on a shelve just as easy, and look good on it also...Carcrazy wrote:Yeah, but at least these investments look pretty on a shelf.
I don't have any real Die Cast car models anymore.
I do have a collection of 1:87 model cars but they belong to my Modelrailroad , even tough there are officially to make a city more realistic, my collection has alot of exclusive cars (911 (996) GT3, CLK GTR (D2 Privat edition), E39 M5 and alot more.
Currently they are all in a box waiting for better times
