Ummm..... the 8600GT isn't exactly a ground shaking upgrade from the 7600gt, as it's only just slightly better than it. :/

Intel Celeron D 64 3.33GHz
160GB HDD
1GB RAM (Finally upgraded)
ATi Radeon Xpress 200 (Going to a new card by end of summer)
Vista Home Premium (Aero)

And surprisingly to me, this setup can run F.E.A.R. Combat pretty nicely (not with the highest settings of course)

I just wanted to try out vista but i ended up staying with it cause it messed up deleted all my stuff in a upgrade :/

It's not bad...but it's not the best either but the eyecandy does live up to the hype though...

if i knew how to partition, i'd install XP

DX10 is pretty useless with the current top end cards available. The graphics in games will be so detailed that cards in the 8800GTX range are still too weak.

@ Carcrazy

Those things don't even require that much CPU power.

And you really need Firefox dude . . . TABS.

Also, after reading the previous page I'm glad I bought a 7900GS and not an 8600GT :)

My old system was in a fire. What with the fire damage and the water damage, and then the roof collapsing on it, it was a miracle I could recover anything. One CD Drive survived, and it looks like most of the hard drives are ok. But the motherboard and power supply and case were toast. So I decided to opt on a new system.

Motherboard: Asus M2R32-MVP
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+
RAM: 1GB DDR2 PC6200
Graphics: ATI Radeon X1600 Pro 512MB PCIe Crossfire Ready
Hard Drive: 500GB Maxtor SATA II
Case: Raidmax Smilodon
Monitor: Samsung SyncMaster 932B 19"
DVD: Plextor 760A DVD-RW (the one that survived)

For now, I'm using the 500W power supply that came with the case. I'll get a better power supply later when I can.

So, what do you think about my system?

Im guessing you're not using this PC for gaming, but instead for other stuff.

I think its a pretty good setup, although, would'nt a core 2 duo processor reduce load on the PSU you are using, and also is much cooler in terms o ftemperature...and you can overclock it anytime u need to.

I have the AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+, and I have tried overclocking. I would highly recommend you get aftermarket cooling if you want to overclock. I tried going up a tiny bit with stock cooling and the system became very unstable, it would boot up and logon and then freeze. It would not stop until I reset the clock frequeny to factory setting
