Computer Help Thread
I was wondering if anybody would know a solution to a problem i have.
My Firefox has been working well until now.
Just a couple of days ago the java-app that came with Firefox started to use up a lot of memory.
Whenever i try to play a java game or whatever Firefox uses like 100mb of memory.
So it slows my pc a lot.
So can anybody help me?

Ah, thanks vellu. I installed the gart and IDE things, and the sound is already up to date. Realtek wants me to PAY for the bloody network driver so I didn't get that.
Anyway, it didn't really change much
but there is one more driver that I wasn't sure about. It's called the IGP driver, and I don't know what that is.
Any ideas?![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

You should have no need to install the IGP then, or should it even be possible to install it, since integrated gfx automatically disables itself once a "real" gfx card is put in place.boganbusman wrote:Oh ok. My MB has built in graphics too so that's probably what it is.vellu wrote:IGP would be for integrated graphics on the mobo of a laptop.
As far as reformatting goes, no way to tell if that might help. Lot of work anyway should you decide to go down that road...

Yeah I need to set aside like a whole day to backup my data and get it done.vellu wrote:As far as reformatting goes, no way to tell if that might help. Lot of work anyway should you decide to go down that road...
I think it will be worth it because I haven't done a defrag or reformat for years. Well I hope that it will be worth it . . .
I'm buying a new comp, but I have to buy a screen separately. These are the screens

I intend on spending up to $550 on one, so the question that I'm asking you guys is which one is the one to buy?
Thanx in advance.

Bash: Does the computer you are getting.... include speakers with it?
If not, I'd go for the
Acer 19" LCD 1913BSM Monitor Black 12ms with Speaker DVI, $469
Then again..... I might be a bit biased to montior/speaker set-up seeming as I have a twiddly little 15" TFT/speaker combo, but who acrs
But, If you are planning to use the spare money to buy some speakers with it.... go for Acer 19" LCD 1916ES with 8ms No Speaker, $479
IMO.... the good choice from the lot would be 19" Samsung 940B LCD Monitor 8ms, $528

I seem to have a problem with my PC at the moment. Basically my PC becomes insanley unstanble everytime I try to install 2 GB of RAM. My PC runs fine using 1 GIG of ram, but as soon as I add another 1GB stick, it goes all tits up on me. Is it something to do with configuration of the memory? Perhaps I need to change somethings in the BIOS?
Specs:
Abit AN8 SLi
AMD 64X2
1 GB RAM (3200)
If there's any more info you need on my comp, then let me know. Thanks.

Well my PC runs absolutly fine right now with only 1GB ram, no problems whatsoever. The problems only occur when I install 2GB of ram, as I've explained in the previous post. I have the latest copy of Win Xp, with updated BIOS and drivers. There's aboslutly no reason why I should have a virus, consedring my Firwall and Anti Virus is on constantly, I never download anything 'dodgy'
Yep, both ram stick are the same memory, speed, brand, they're the same type, which I bought together. I also tried just using the other 1GB stick on its own, and that too works fine. So I assume that both Memory sticks are in good working order, an problem only occurs when installing 2GB, or maybe 2 memory sticks.
