Oooh, very nice. I don't like the 'EUREKA' on the back, though. Needs some cleaning up, too, or are you going to repaint it, anyway?

It'll be a 4-speed based on the 1400, 1600 or overbored 1800 carbe'd beetle engine.
I still think you could squeeze a VR6 and 6-speed or KR 1.8 16v on throttle bodies into it though...;)

@darknight788 & steelsnake00: ive found out that engine now its a Mitsubishi Galant and its only 4 speed also the seller told me it hasn't ever been driven and that it has no mileage on it at all  all this was also confirmed by my dad too who is helping me with my eureka :)

thank you to all who likes my car 8) ill also keep you updated on what happens with it if you like but on another thread or something if there is one.

1400 on ITB's with a good head will see 200bhp
1400 on a biggish turbo will see double that if you really try.

Engine size means nothing anymore.

Was the Eureka the car they used in the film, "A Clockwork Orange"? Looks pretty similar...

EDIT: Sorry, it appears the car in the film was the "Durango 95"

a galant engine heh is that the 2.4L ? unless they put 1400 cc engines in galants but i dont think so

i know you can get decent horsepower from them but for me i would want something that doesnt sound like a mix between a snowmobile and a atv. if it was my car i would drop a high strung subaru turbo boxer engine in, very small and alot of horsepower out of the box.

and just a question, do you know what your insurance is going to be ?

The Durango 95 was based upon the Adams Probe 16.
I find it hard to believe that the Eureka, which is based on a beetle chassis, is running a Galant engine? That would be a fitting nightmare.

A little problem called FITMENT. Boxer engines are by their nature really wide. The rear of a VW beetle chassis isn't. Plus you then need to get your engine to play ball with the cars ECU, uprate every component in it to avoid it tearing itself to shreds and find somewhere to fit not only the radiator (remember, Beetles are air cooled!) but also the oil cooler, intercooler and most of the other ancilleries.

Getting big BHP out of the Subaru 4-cyl boxers is quite a feat in itself.

300 hp for a stock wrx thats more than the EVO not too shabby for a stock H4. and besides i never said it would be cheap to stuff a boxer engine in that thing

300BHP stock from a non-special-edition Impreza? Dream on. Only the ultra-limited-edition WR1 and RB320 make that power (in the UK market) and it isn't more than an Evo, with the FQ360 making...360bhp and the now out-of-production FQ400 making.......400.
It would be cheaper to get 400+bhp out of the VW KR engine and fit it in directly. And more efficiant. And most likely faster, as the boxer motors weigh an absolute ton.

actually it is 293 hp for a impreza wrx sti it was 300 hp even but the NHTSA made them re evaluate their claims along with alot of other car companies like toyota, lexus, acura, etc. and boxer engine arent really heavy at all i even got to rebuild one in a high school shop class and me and my partner were able to pick it up and put it on the stand
2008 mitsubishi lancer evo : 286 HP
2008 impreza wrx sti: 293 hp
you tell me which one has more HP, if your going to compare EVO's especially those of which only 100 will be built ( FQ400) that doesnt count im talking production like you could go to the dealer and drive home with it today.

FQ340 (which is the most bought Evo in the UK) has 340ps, which equates to 330-odd BHP. The standard WRX, which is the equivilent to the lowest model Evo, has 224bhp versus 286. The highest spec Evo is the RB320, which has 320ps (312-odd-bhp). The highest spec Evo currently on sale is the FQ360, but was the FQ400, which have 360ps(351bhp) and 400ps (387bhp).

This gives it a 40bhp advantage over a WRX STi, which is it's direct competitor. The Evo's drivetrain generally has less power loss than that of the Impreza, so you would probably be looking at a 50-odd BHP difference at the wheels. Add to that the fact an Evo is lighter as standard, 1400 (for heaviest version) versus 1450kg, and you tell me which has the more power?

The original reason behind the Japanese power regulation was a "gentleman's agreement", so to speak, the same one which binds all non-supercar Audi, VAG, BMW and Mercedes cars to 155mph.

im just going by what the Mitsubishi and subaru websites say and they say 293hp for sti and 286 for evo, i know there are hordes of special editions and whatnot like the 320 hp wrx and 366 hp evo. if i had to pick a engine to swap into one the evo's would be my choice of course because of more power potential, though i do love the sound of the boxer engine

Well you shouldn't be comparing the WRX STi and base Evo. The STi is the mid spec Impreza. The 320, 340 and 360 aren't special editions, they've been in production as long as the base model, and are comparably with the STi as mid-spec cars. The RB320 special editions ect, and the FQ400 are direct competitors as the top of the range.

Does anybody know of any crappy cars that you can make look really cool?

All I know of is that Honda NSX and the Mazda RX-7.

I want something I can afford and make look cool. BMW didn't have any cool body kits.

Why would you want to make it look cool? If you want to do anything to your car, the first thing should be performance-wise.

So...you want a crap car, but you want to make it look good?
It's much cheaper just to buy a good car in the first place. IMHO external modification shoulf be subtle at the most, and only if really nessesary

Then what do you mean, crappy looking? The [last gen] RX-7 and NSX are, in my opinion, some of the best looking cars ever produced.
