I apologize for these "n00b" questions
Buying an AGP card would be like adopting a 12-year-old dog from the SPCA ... It's old, slow, and will be dead soon ...

Or if you wanted PCI instead of PCI-E, AGP vs. PCI

Probably more info than you want, but w/e.
Simply put, PCI < AGP < PCI Express 1.0

Most new cards are PCI Express 1.0

What do ya'll think of this to replace my 7600GT? I'm not looking for something with a tail load of power just something to replace my 7600, and figured this would haul it. :P

Plus S2K said he would buy my old one. XD

It's a small upgrade from the 7600GT, only difference is that it supports DirectX 10.

I wouldn't bother unless you get something that's at least double the speed of your 7600 GT, which the 8600 GT is not (it's roughly 20% faster).

I would go w/ at least an X1950 Pro (which is roughly twice as fast) or better.

I finally overclocked my 7900 GS from 450/1400 to 539/1460. I saw a pretty big difference in Carbon. Yeys!

The X1950 pro is a good buy but its direct x 9c card, maybe u would want to get a dx10 card like the HD2600XT or maybe a 2900XT. If you prefer Nvidia yo ucould get a 8800GTS.

DX10 is useless for now, so a previous series top-range is fine.

I'm planning on getting a ATi HD2600Pro, how's that? (I don't really care about high res gaming much, just something that'll give me good FPS)

That will get the job done even at some hight res, depending on the game.

ATI is the creator of the Radeon series. There are other brands which make radeon cards but all of them are based on ATI's. So the brands like Sapphire and such just make their versions of the radeon cards and add a few mods here and there.

Thanks, how do you think it'll perform in games like TDU, F.E.A.R., and Rainbow Six Vegas?

I got an old 9600XT and I can play FEAR at maximum settings at 800X600 No AA
TDU on medium at 800X600 no AA
Not sure about Rain bow six but I can run GRAW on low.
A 2600Pro Can pwn all those games easy. Even better the XT should do even better if you can afford it.

The HD 2600Pro and XT are pretty good cards, and there cheap. The 2900XT will perform far better if you can afford it.

Well the downside for that cheapness is that the DDR3 XT is about a 7600GT and the DDR4 XT is around a 7800GT(not GTX), 7900GS and they're both around 130Euros but you better put another 30Euros and buy a 8600GTS which is around a 7800GTX, 7900GT, X1950GT.

No, not really. It's better than that (I have the magazine with all the comparisons of all the video cards).
