I was looking at that cooler and it seems like a good one.

I'd normally go for a Zalman item, because I find them repetuable and quality, so you might like to check that out? Alsom a good place for help is on the UK PC Gamer Forum, they are absolute nerds, i'll link at the bottom. Also, check for clearance because chances are if the cooler is chunky, it renders the PCI expansion slot underneath useless. For example, I have a tight fit even on a big gamer case because of two 8800 Ultras, and all the other crap like my Creative X-Fi sound card (its huge) and other bits like water cooling for the GFX's and CPU. You have to be very careful space wise. If the space is tight, you might need a case fan as well to draw the heat out (go for a 120mm case fan from a good brand like Artic cooling or Zalman.)

The 8800 GT has better driver support and performs better in older games, so I would probably give it the nod if the price is close. However, driver support will improve on the HD 3800 and both games play older games extremely well anyways, so several months from now, it most likely won't make too big of a difference.
The 8800 GT has a very annoying cooler on it whereas the HD 3870's cooler, while not perfect, is much more tolerable to listen to. However, the 8800 GT uses a single-slot, so it may be a better choice if you plan to use many other expansion cards w/ it.
CrossfireX seems to scale a little better than SLI from what I've read (can't say I've used either in a multi-GPU config) and it's better supported (Intel and AMD/ATI chipsets both support Crossfire whereas only Nvidia chipsets support SLI), so if you plan on getting multiple cards, you may be better off w/ the ATI cards.
Sorry for the double post but yeah, I run 8800 Ultra's in SLi and SLi doesn't scale as well as CrossFire. SLi isn't worth it unless u have 8600GT's and then it's quite good. Saying that, I shred Crysis and everything else, so I can't give a full comparison, also because I've personally never used CrossFire, but my mate does so I'll have a play on his rig.
