i've watched one eipsode of the japanese racing series movie clips Best Mortoring International, some JGTC fella (tsuchiya, orido) benchmark the Z350(modded). with the summary of "its a fun to drive car", although the car suffers of its heavy weight.
my own opinion Z350 design is sided more to a continental sports car. meanwhile S2000 is a pure japanese breed car.
Dunnboy...
i dun think that the S2000 4-cyl F20C DOHC VTEC is weak. come on man, 250ps stock
its 125ps per liter its a breakthrough for a street NA engine. i didn't mean that the Z350's VQ35DE is weak. a nismo 6 throttle NA VQ35DE pumps out more than a 400ps (yeah a NISMO). and yes Z350 is more of a coupe, and S2000 is more of a roadster.
i am sorry that i will pick the S2000, the Z350 is a little too "exotic-feel" to me. and the insurance + road tax for a Z350...*cough*

I can't exactly say, as I haven't driven either (I'd like to though), but I prefer the 350Z. I mean, as much as the S2k does have an impressive motor, I don't like the fact that it's got no power until 6000rpm. Basically, the S2000 is a very impressive track car, but the 350Z is a far more civilized, useable car (you think that the 350Z is going to be an uncomfortable car, it'll seem like a Cadillac compared to the S2000). Furthermore, in track capabilities, the S2000 is totally eclipsed by the Lotus Elise.

Which happens to not be an option in this poll.in track capabilities, the S2000 is totally eclipsed by the Lotus Elise.
The S2000 is an excellent platform. Not all that long ago, Hyper Sports and Racing were the first in this country to turbocharge the S2k, and has since been used as a daily driver and a fun weekend car. (Which incidentally is now up for sale). Having been passenger in an S2000, the smaller cabin further enhances the adrenaline rush when the engine is screaming at 7000rpm, and all you can see are the digital numbers going up and up...
I agree the 350Z does appear to be a more refined car than the Honda, but I know where my money would go.

Oh, I know, I was just pointing that out, as the S2000, from what I've read, is rather unrefined. Unrefined enough that it's only good for preformance driving. However, at the same time, there are other comperable cars out there that are clearly better at the preformance driving. The 350Z, on the other hand, isn't so easily eclipsed by the competition. There are cars that are better than it, but at the same time, it seems to be unique enough in what it does. It may not be the best car in its class, but there aren't cars that are clearly and blatantly superior.Grez~Supra_RZ-S wrote:Which happens to not be an option in this poll.in track capabilities, the S2000 is totally eclipsed by the Lotus Elise.![]()

True. Its balance of relative comfort and speed puts it on a border line between the likes of the Supra and RX7, and the style of the Lexus IS200 etc. Its like a happy medium for those who dont want out and out power, but want a bit of speed. The 350Z, on the other hand, isn't so easily eclipsed by the competition

The 350Z has 287hp normally the S2000 had only 240hp. The 35th anniversary 350Z has 300hp. 350Z wins easily, Nissan is better than Honda.UrQuattro wrote:no contest, really, the 350z is outclassed by Honda.
Besides, Nissan is a six, and Honda has the best four pot in the world! 350Z for a show, S2000 for a PRO!

The QE2 has more bhp than my car, but I can guarantee you it would lose in a race.James31278 wrote:The 350Z has 287hp normally the S2000 had only 240hp. Why do you think that? that 350z has a Renault engine!!! That Honda makes 9000 RPMJames31278 wrote:The 350Z has 287hp normally the S2000 had only 240hp. If i remember correctly the 300zx had the VG engines. VG30DETT wasn't it? Anyways i went with the S2k. Pushing 240 hp out of a 4 banger can't be ignored. Plus i love the mean look of the S2kDrewb99 wrote:The VQ & VG (can't remember which the 350z has) engine's been a Nissan design for the last decade or so. High RPMs also means you have to rev forever for the thing to make any kind of power, a V6 has a bit of an advantage here.

said it is a Renault engine in the 350... and knowing that petrol engines isn't a french specialtity in car building
and even if the 350 has 300 bhp it still is ALOT heavier then the S2000
Ignorants? I take offence to that, being one of the people that voted for the 350Z. As I said earlier, as much as the S2000 will eclipse the 350Z in preformance, the Z is still a better all-around car. It's a more refined, less high-strung car, something that you could consider driving around town every day, or taking on a long road trip. Plus, the Lotus Elise (which, while not part of the competition, is still in the same class) eclipses the S2000 in preformance, leaving the S2000 as nothing special.^Sparco^ wrote:Wow I remember myself posting in this thread when I was a n00b.
Yeah I am one of the 4 ignorants that voted for the Z
If nothing else, Car and Driver once picked the 350Z over the S2000 in a comparison test. Are they ignorant?
