Nice infos you got there bro.!!

Okay now its between the S15 and 180SX.
Lets say I earn 500 pounds per month on my job. Is it possible to get a 180sx on installment every month? Tell me if youre selling your car in 2 or 3 years time.. big chance Im gonna buy it.=DDD

And the S15. Its too expensive? What about a second hand one? Coz its hard to find a new one here. Singapore is just a tiny little dot on the map. =[[

I think the Drifting fad needs to die.

Have you ever considered an MX-5? Small, rwd, cheap....

MX-5s are hard to drift anyway, their wheelbase is too short.

In 'The Drift Bible' the dude says that S-13s understeer a lot and are a bit hard to drift, but S-14s are much better. Apparently all you need are some good shockers and brake pads and the S-14 will happily drift all day . . .

I'm talking about a standard S-13, those ones you posted may have modified suspension to cope with the understeer.

I mentioned it because you will probably start with a standard car, not a riced up one that has all the gear

But the S13 your talking about is the same fastback right? Not a Silvia S13? Im confused between 200SX S13 and Silvia S13. =[

All S13s are fundamentally identical. That's why its so easy to swap front ends and make a Sil-Eighty or One-via, or whatever.

So in other words, they are almost exactly the same car, they just look different

Unlikely, as they stopped making them in 96 (with 94 being the crossover year to S14), you cant usually get credit for a used car.
Tell me if youre selling your car in 2 or 3 years time.. big chance Im gonna buy it.
Again unlikely, given that I live pretty much as far away from Singapore as you can get.
Its too expensive? What about a second hand one?
Unfortunately, the prices I quoted were second hand.
I think the Drifting fad needs to die
Its a fad that has lasted probably longer than the amount of time youve spent on this Earth.
Have you ever considered an MX-5? Small, rwd, cheap....
...no factory LSD, underpowered...
In 'The Drift Bible' the dude says that S-13s understeer a lot and are a bit hard to drift, but S-14s are much better. Apparently all you need are some good shockers and brake pads and the S-14 will happily drift all day . . .
Pre-facelift S13s dont come with an LSD, but the post 91 cars do. All RWD cars suffer an element of understeer before a heavy dose of oversteer, and the advice about suspension counts for a lot of RWD cars. The brakes on the S14 are a lot sharper though.
m confused between 200SX S13 and Silvia S13
A brief low-down.

Fastbacks:
180SX - JDM - SR20DET - 2.0L turbo 4 cyl
200SX - UKDM - CA18DET 1.8L turbo 4 cyl
240SX - USDM - KA24DE - 2.4L N/A 4 cyl

Mine is an example of one of these (the UKDM car). Technically speaking, all S-chassis cars are Silvias, no matter what country the come from. The model and country are designated by even more specific codes. For example, rather than just ''S13'', my 89-94 UK-spec 200SX is designated ''RS13''. The Silvia you are probably talking about is this one:

Image

This is the car that comes in King, Queen and Jack specs.
All S13s are fundamentally identical. That's why its so easy to swap front ends and make a Sil-Eighty or Onevia
Spot on. Fundamentally, the S14 and S15 arent that much different either, so conversions such as this are really quite simple, known as ''Ichigo'', or 'strawberry face':

Image

SRB Power even sell a straight bolt-on kit which consists of S15 lights, front wings, bonnet and bumper. However, transplanting any of the models front ends can be done comparatively easily.

No. I meant the hype made from the movie FnF (The Civics in the school parking lot...). Not the fad started from Tsuchuya discovering the e-brake in the mountain.

Not the fad started from Tsuchuya discovering the e-brake in the mountain.
Wrong on numerous counts.

1. Tsuchiya didnt discover drifting.
2. When Tsuchiya did start drifting, it wasnt anywhere near the mountains, it was in the JGTC, which is the sole reason it became mainstream.
Exactly the type of car I want.
If youre after a hideous, pre-modified can of worms on stock brakes, fill your boots.
86's dont have enough power stock or modified
Enough power for what? To break traction at the rear wheels? I think youll find they have enough power stock. Also, a 20V 4A-GE stock is as powerful as a B16A2 engine. On ITBs, the 4A-GE is more reliable, and has more potential. You my friend, have no clue what youre talking about.
the Silvia S15 is over $20,000 new
New? They stopped making them several years ago...
id say a 180 with S15 engine
Which incidentally is an SR20DET, the same as found in the 180SX anyway. For the sake of buying an S15 SR, you can match the 20bhp ECU-attained difference and still have lots and lots of change.
i would know i am only 15 trying to get one of these
Given that you clearly know so much about them, Id advise looking into a Vauxhall Corsa or similar. ;)
What's with everything on the right side of the car being backwards?
Its a trend that started in Singapore, then really kicked off big style in Cali.

viper16 wrote:no S15 SR20s have 250hp.
That depends entirely on which S15 youre talking about. The Spec-S for example, has only 165bhp, as does the varietta. In fact, only the spec-R has close to 250bhp, and as I said before, its simply a matter of fuelling/timing ; i.e. ECU differences. It still uses a T28, and fundamentally, its still the same block. If you want to spend £6000 to buy an S15 from a breakers yard (read written off) to buy an engine with a Bhp/torque difference similar to the increase in both you would achieve from a simple HD chip with breathing mods, then by all means go for it. But dont be surprised when people point and laugh at you.
and 86s dont have more power than a JDM RWD B18C5
Oh yeah, that old chestnut! Of course, the B18C5 is from the DC2 (namely 96-97, a simple revision over the B18C6 more commonly found in ITRs). Im not sure how much you know about Hondas, but Id like to point out to you that the only RWD sports car theyve ever made to wear a Type-R emblem was the NSX. All others have been FWD.
one thing they dont have Vauxalls in th U.S.
...but youre from Aberdeen?
and all my friends drift more than alot of you
ALL of my friends drift more than you, know why? Because you cant drive. Dont hump your 'friends' achievements, tell us about how good you are. If youve drifted more than me, Id be very impressed.
