E-gear VS 6-speed manual w. clutch
Re: E-gear VS 6-speed manual w. clutch
Getting back on topic, I have no doubt that semi-auto transmissions are the better choice if you want to get from point A to point B (or point A, back to point A, as the case may be), but, in my personal opinion, I don't think it'd be quite as much fun.

Like in the arcade, right? LOL!Koenigsegg_Rox wrote:pull down to shift up, push up to shift down. Simple like a semi-auto, but fun like a manual. Best of both worlds.
I do believe you can do this in the Audi R8 with the R-Tronic gearbox. I know there're pedals behind the wheels, but you can do shiftings by the gear lever itself; push up to shift down, pull down to shift up.

Actually they're in quite a few cars, like the Lexus IS and even bloody falcodores...

Guys, a sequential manual is not the same thing as an "e-gear" gearbox.
A sequential is just a regular manual gearbox with a sequential shifter and you still have to use the clutch.
With electronic 'boxes, the gear changing and clutches are all controlled by a computer. All you do is flick the paddles.
Furthermore, the kind of gearbox that you find in a racing car cannot be compared to regular street cars. Racing 'boxes have straight-cut gears and dog teeth instead of synchros, allowing you to slam through the upshifts without even touching the clutch.

I wasn't saying it was the same as an E-gear box. I just said I'd have one.
