Well for some odd reason the lower drag, more aerodynamic and more powerful Hamann version doesn't break 200, it tops out at 197DarrenR21373 wrote:Yup - Jeremy Clarkson reckons if you took the limiter off of a standard BMW M5, it'd clear 200 MPH
How fast have you driven yourself, or been driven?

You must have almost no legs, there's no room in the backTeam_5Zigen wrote:I got to 180kph in an Aston Martin DB9 Volante. I was in the back seat, going around Albert Park at the 2006 F1 Australian Gran Prix! Great fun.

Here in the state of Virginia, I wait until 3AM, and then proceed to an 8 mile long bridge, with 5 miles (12 Kilometers for the rest of you folks) being smooth and straight. Cops can't park on the sides of bridges where I live. So I'm armed with a police scanner, radar detector, 93 octane fuel pumping through my Chevy's cast iron block, and a cool head to keep the stress from making it a bad run. Otherwise, it's my topspeed test track. Hell, it's a four lane undivided highway, but at 3 to 4 in the morning, you could do a rather dramatic U turn.

i've driven myself at 148mph in a VW Passat
i've been a passenger at 176mph in a Lamborghini Countach.
my mom dated this guy who raced cars. he had a 78 widebody corvette putting over 700hp to the wheels, a 94 corvette, and the Lambo. he said the 78 corvette was in a different league of fast compared to the lambo, problem was that it was race only, so it only had one seat. but my god that thing was L-O-U-D. i guess its no surprise that i autocross now too.

Most of the petroleum products are used to produce energy. Other products made from petroleum include: ink, crayons, bubble gum, dishwashing liquids, deodorant, eyeglasses, records, tires, ammonia, and heart valves. From a barrel of oil, 47% is refined to gasoline for use in automobiles, 23% is refined to heating oil and diesel fuel, 18% is refined to other products, which includes petrochemical feedstock such as polypropylene, 4% is refined to propane, 10% is refined to jet fuel, and 3% is refined to asphalt.
wouldnt that make it more refined ? after all it does burn cleaner and it even evaporates before it hits the ground

when planes dump fuelthe only reason why they can is because it evaporates before it hits the ground. jet fuel acts kinda like ether evaporates very quiclky and is very flammable. wouldnt being more flammable mean being more refined ? look at diesel fuel not very flammable at all and it is a byproduct of gasoline
Well if it evaporates so easily, that would explain why it's so flammable. You can ignite a liquid fuel such as gasoline without it exploding like it would in the engine of a car if it's just a pool. Heck, you could even put out a fire with liquid fuel (though I wouldn't suggest trying it). The fuel needs to be a vapor before ignition to get the explosion.

Kerosene can only be used in diesel cars, and octane booster at best will put it up by two octane ratings (i.e 95 - 97).Countach wrote:93 Octane fuel is the highest I can get in my area, so I can either use aircraft fuel which is ridiculously exspensive, or octane booster.

AvGas and jet fuel are two completely diferent thingsxHaZxMaTx wrote:I was under the impression that jet fuel was relatively inexpensive due to it not being as refined as gasoline.
Anybody that doesn't live in the US should read this, We use a totally different system for gasoline octane ratings. http://www.type2.com/bartnik/octane.htm
