I'll question anyone who posts a sigle picture of a hotted up car without any description whatsoever.

Just get a couple more pics and list some info and I might believe you.

I have to admit, I question the legibility of a pic taken w/ no description, and seemingly with a professional lens.

have to agree with Bogan and Grez here, the pics has a certain angle that is not normal for a amateur to be made.

it is a elevated camera angle. most people take their pics from a standing perspective. only pro's or people with more camera experience take pics for such angles.

Our first car is a 2001 Toyota Highlander.

(No, this is not my pic, but it's nighttime right now so no time to take one.)

Then we have a Toyota Corolla (don't know what year)

It's a Metallic Cherry Red color.

Sleepy eye mod, eh? Pretty cool. I'm kinda interested to see what it would look like on the Probe, but I've got other stuff to do first (like getting it moving under its own power- at least I've got a transmission now).

I see it's a WIP, since they're still not fixed all the way (...).

should not be much of a problem with a T16 celica. seen it before on pics Grez showed me so can be done.

Heh, the paint chip came when I bought the car. When I get my air scoop delivered, Ill be getting a paint match and sorting out all the blemishes.

For anyone wanting to try this, let me know. If I get 3-4 people interested, Ill post up a 'how-to' guide. Its really very simple, and takes around 30 minutes (if that) to do.

I'd like to know how it's done, tho my cars headlamps are "normal"-type. So I'm just curious to know HOW. :P

In the Netherlands, when a woman crashes a car, we say: ''Vrouw achter het stuur, bloed aan de muur.''

Literally translated: Woman behind the wheel, blood on the wall. :P
yeh, he would. he used to b a mechanic, so he wil pick up the part n fit it. not that i intend 2 crash it. i just have to do my test first.

I'd be interested too, provided it's easy to undo.

OK folks. It operates on a simple switch, so can be very easily undone. If you want to remove it permanently, you can take the wires off the fuse, and replace the fuse as normal.

Right, first of all, as a disclaimer, Id like to point out that this guide is specific to the MK1 MR2. However, as a rough guide, it can be used for other marques which utilise the pop-up headlight feature.

In this article, Ill show you the easy way to achieve this look, and youll be surprised how simple it is.

What youll need:

-A car with pop-up headlamps

-2 x male push fit crimps (1/4 blade)

-2 x female push fit crimps (1/4 receptacle)

-Enough suitable cable to reach from the fuse box in the front boot to your prefered switch position and back again (needs to fairly heavy cable as its carrying the headlight motor current. I used 27A cable and it works fine)

-A switch (simple on/off)

Image

On to the Job:

1. Decide where you are mounting the switch and run 2 lengths of cable from there to the fuse box (in the MK1, the fuse box is located in the front boot, near the right hand suspension turret as you look toward the back of the car)

2. Connect the cables to your switch and install it.

3. At the fuse box end crimp a male connector on 1 cable and a female on the other

4. Cut a short piece of cable (about 2 “) and crimp male on one end and a female on the other

Image

5. Remove the 30a fuse for the pop-up motor (marked RTR MTR -green fuse on the left hand side on the MK1)

Image

6. Plug the male end of the short cable into the left hand side of the fuse holder (you may have to trim the side of the crimp slightly to get it to go in)

7. Plug the male end of the long cable from the switch into the right hand side of the fuse holder (again you may have to trim it)

8. Plug the fuse into the 2 female crimps

Image

9. Tuck the fuse out the way and refit the cover. That’s the job done!

Operation

-Put the switch in the off position

-Put the headlight switch on to raise the headlights ( nothing will happen)

-Toggle the switch on/off to raise the headlights to the desired position (finishing with the switch off)

-You can now switch the headlight switch off and the headlights will stay in the position you have set them in

-When you put the headlights on again they will stay in the same position

-To restore normal operation put the switch on

Here is a link to the finished product (my car with the sleepy headlights in place). Even as an amateur to electrics, the job took me a total of half an hour.

Good luck. :)

Umm... those are two totally different cars. And unless you provide proof that this is your car, example: a pic with you in it, or a piece of paper with your screen name on it, I'm gonna have to go with baadmw.
