Mine pushes out around 98 bhp because of the XR3 enjin.

My first and only car
1979 Ford Escort RS 2000 2 door

2 litre SOHC 4 with sports cam, sports pistons, extractors, electronic ignition, anti pollution removed.
It has one muffler instead of the standard two
The botton picture is how I got it. the Top picture taken two years and 3 months later (been on road 3 months)

To do list: 15x6 alloy wheels, finish interior, 2 inch exhaust, twin cam, fuel injection, rebuild motor.

I normally drive a 2001 Toyota Tacoma pickup for work to make the payments on my toy, a 2004 Pontiac GTO. It's stock because I don't have the money to do anything with it right now. But with 350hp it's not bad.

Yep, that’s the one 8)
We managed to exclude $1500 off the original price, so that should leave us some spare room for the gearbox.
I might also take a look at how to renew the paintjob... It's looking very deceased. :P Edit: Especially the FB 0_o

All you need is some Cut and Polish (No.2) and lots of elbow grease  btw is the FB is bad as mine, or just faded?

Ahh, it's looking pretty dodgy... many small crack marks from the sun. :o
I don't think there is much fading though.

Edit: Have you done any reconditioning to yours?

@79 RS : Love the RS2000 u hav there, really nice restoration job. I had the RS1600 before i bought the XR3, they go like stink.

If u hav any questions about that enjin rebuild go to this site http://www.fordsport.org.uk they helped me aout alot when i did my enjin transplant. :D

HKS, it just occurred to me, why didn't you transplant an engine with more power?
Like a Duratec V6 or Cosworth engine.
I know expense is an issue but engine transplants are never economically viable anyway.

There was a cossie engine in the car when i bought it,but i siezed it and the XR3 was the only one i had lying around. I'm putting in another engine some time this year, just depends on what i can pick up for a good price. What do u suggest? (i want another cossie) :D

Nah not yet. All I need to do is sand it back where the paint has flaked off/cracked and use some touch-up paint to fix it.

If the cracks are small and not very deep, then cut n polish or wet and dry sandpaper should do the trick. Otherwise you'l probably have to do what I'm doing.
