Manual or Automatic?
Ok we all know that driving properly you have to use a manual, especially when racing
However NFS is too f**king gay to recognise my splendid Saitek joypad and I'm stuck with my shiznit sidewinder pad. But both joypads do have 'trigger' buttons which are ideal for changing gears for a racing game. When I choose manual I'm sure I'm faster - cos' I can downshift for tight corners, plus I'm almost sure that I get faster acceleration...maybe I'm dreaming it?! I do have a tendancy to over-rev during frantic gear changes during a race tho So I normally drive using a Automatic cos' I'm a lazy booboo and get too frustrated with my (sometimes) poor gear change

However, keyboard driving makes manual mode quite complicated because of difficulties with finding optimal control keys layout.
I use ',' and '.' keys for steering, 'a' and 'z' for accel and brake, Alt and Space for shift down and up, 'x' for handbrake and 's' for nitro. This layout actually came from earlier Microprose F1 Gran Prix games
So sometimes I go automatic to do not provide much noise hitting gearbox keys

I love the new NSX concept, as well as CRX... But the Eclipse... I was never a fan of, and this on is... a bit trendy.
On the topic, I use keyboard, and have always used it since some old F1 GP game (was it '94?). But I'll have to try that layout someone posted, with a bunch of keys spread out.. Will keep the force off those poooor arrow keys (I have like 10 racing games (motogp, F1, rally, nfs series!) and all employ arrows, imagine the wear). And I switch between transmissions - usually the manual prevails thou - A&Z keys.
