Hiya.. I've been playing NFS for a while..
I had some Windows torubles so I reinstalled windows and NFSunderground.. Now Ive got 2 weird problems..

1. My savegames are still in the place the should be, but the game doesnt seem to link to them, so ill have to start underground from the beginning again

2. My loading screens etc are all low-res somehow :S

I hope someone can give me some advice,

what OS are u running?

get the latest drivers for ur system, gfx-card etc...might've disappeard when reinstalling...

XP Pro.. and I've got the same drivers installed as before.
I can race etc at normal ress, but my loading screens and all that are low-ress and I cannot load my savegames

By low-ress you mean 800x600?
The menu is locked to that resolution.

It is possible the game overwrote your profiles file when you launched it the first time after reinstalling.
You should have copied all the contents of the savegame folder somewhere else, then install the game and run it (create a profile), then exit the game and copy the savegames back (and overwrite everything).

I know the menu is on 800x600, but the text on the loading screens is almost not readable.. It was better before..

and about the savegames..

I made a new profile.. And I was thinking of the savegame editer.. but it doesnt appear in the folderwere the older savegames are, and I cant find them anyware

IS your windows explorer by any chance hiding system and hidden files?

It is.. But I can find the hidden folders with 'search'

did you accidentally delete the Profiles.usr file when you uninstalled it the first time?.........the file is need to recognise save games.

Got the porblem fixed.. i just removed all and made a new porfile.. Used the save-game editer to go to my original underground thingy

but now I still have the queer low-ress thing

I have a fx5200 now, but that is not the problem. It wasn't like that before..
and Ill get my Asus Radeon 9600XT this week

I was at race 103/111 then my pc crashed, I had to reinstall windows and my savegames were lost, thats why I used the savegame editor

Just for the search results, couldn't find a tested example, so here it is: if your windows crashes and your saved games are still in the \All Users\Application Data\NFS Underground directory:

1. start NFSU
2. create profile names with the same length of the profile you want to restore. Eg: you want to restore the user SERAPH, type HPARES (mirror)
3. close NFSU
4. open the Profiles.usr. Make sure you open it in a proper text editor (used UltraEdit myself).
5. just type your old userprofile over the new name: eg HPARES -> SERAPH.
6. save Profiles.usr
7. Game on!!!!!

Length of the usernames did the trick. Tried it with different lengths but game didn't accept it. You can see for yourself in UltraEdit... Anyways: game even crashes! Keeping the lengths of the usernames works fine for me
