"Catch Up" AI is totally ruining my gaming experie

Has anyone figured out how to disable the "catch up" or "rubberbanding" AI? I'm playing Most Wanted.

Every race, it just feels soooo fake...I hate it so much. It makes me feel like I'm playing a game, instead of really racing...and that sucks.

If there is no way to disable it, is there a way to play that minimizes the effect? I know this is a 'arcade' racer, but the rubberbanding is just so artificial.

Is there a racer on the PC that doesn't have this $#**$* rubberbanding?

there is, sadly, no way to disable it...(atleast not in career)
i feel exactly the same way about it

there are plenty other racers that do not have this
but depends on if you're looking for arcade or sim and Streetracing or GT or whatever

you dont have to. there should be something on the right side that says download this file now. this looks to be like a universal widescreen patcher?

at least in U2 you could disable it in career. i guess EA thought that with the exotics availalbe in Most Wanted catchup would even the playing field a bit. i just hope they dont do that in carbon, that would suck. it's hard as it is to get a good lead on a winding mountain road. catchup would totally ruin the canyon duel experience.

yeah , But once you get past the you win any way , so it wouldnt really matter for caynon duels , it would still ruin the game tho .

The only problem I have with catch-up is once someone passes me, it's impossible to catch them. I can stay in front of them easily, until I hit a water-barrel or something, then they fly past and I never see them again.

That happened to me in Blacklist races, I would be kicking the crap out of them but once I slow down the tiniest bit I had to restart for once they got past I couldn't catch them again. >_>

yeah, i usually have to type of modes catch up and in front mode, the catch i do w/e to catch up, usually works, not always, and in front mode i do w/e to get points(this is universal in all games i play) but i play console so...

I just gave the game one more try, and after getting pissed to hell at the nonsensical and totally unrealistic behavior, I uninstalled. Bounty mode was fun for a while, but gets boring unless there are goals...the goals come from career mode which requires me to deal with the fricking idiotic rubberbanding.

I don't have much experience with racers because I usually get nausea/headaches. I guess I'm not used to this common AI behavior.

Sigh...it's a slick game that looked gorgeous on my computer and ran well...and somehow didn't make me nauseous.

It's not that "bad". Most people have no trouble winning the game all the way through even with catch. It's just annoying, not impossible; even nearly, I found that the last three blacklist races with all their race win requirements were cakewaks...first time around took only three times to pass the final pursuit too. Hardest races were somewhere in the middle.

I'm not complaining that it's too hard. At least it's still pretty easy since I was only at #11 blacklist when I uninstalled. The problem is that it's breaking the illusion of 'reality' and immersion for me. I'm constantly yelling 'what the heck?' because the AI does something that isn't realistic...at least realistic within the realm of this little imaginary world.

Anyways, I'm going to try a couple other PC racers (not that many choices, actually)...if those aren't better, then I think I might replay Burnout on console. I don't remember if that series has rubberbanding, but even if it did, that just helps the carnage.

It can be annoying , Just get ahead of tem early and make sure you drive perfeclty you can pwn them . I finished a race 3000 + feet ahead of them the other day , I just knciked over loads of persuit breaks :D . NFS MW is a good game just give it half a chance :)

Drive good and make sure, for the love of God, don't f*** up too bad. That's when they get you. I beat Ronnie by +18.00 seconds yesterday.

the way i see it: use nos to juice yourself out front at the start of the race and drive aggressively to stay in the lead. atleast that works for me, not sure about the rest.

Its really funny when you perfect shift at the start and you dissapeer into the distance with them never to see you until the end of the race !
