NFSMW "0xc0000005" error

Post by SP4RCO »

Does anyone know what is this?

A box showing that error appears when I run the game, so I can't play NFSMW. I've reinstalled it and the problem is still there. The game is original, it's the Black Edition copy I got when I won the tc2 banner contest at this site.

Well, what the hell is the 0xc0000005 thingie?

The CD is not scratched btw.
Still rolling my eyes

:)
The error 0xC0000005 is generated by an illegal "memory access violation". This can be caused by anything from faulty RAM, an incorrect/corrupt device driver, poorly written/updated software and more commonly under Windows XP Service pack 2, malware/adware installations.

http://www.google.com/search?q=NFSMW+%2 ... 5%22+error turns up a link to an NFSCars forum post, but it seems they're having MySQL troubles right now.

Always crashes in the same spot, or randomly all over the game? If the same spot most likely a corrupt file (or worse files located on damaged hdd sectors). If all over the place, could be a ram issue.

Yup, failing hardware defintely seems a possibility, also references to Direct3D problems keep showing up in the search results.
