I just bought a brand new Dell computer with the following stats:
System Model: Dell DM061
BIOS: Phoenix ROM BIOS PLUS Version 1.10 2.2.0
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 2.80GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 2038MB RAM
Page File: 444MB used, 3485MB available
Display Devices
---------------
Card name: Intel(R) G965 Express Chipset Family
Manufacturer: Intel Corporation
Chip type: Intel(R) GMA 3000
DAC type: Internal
Display Memory: 256.0 MB
Current Mode: 1024 x 768 (32 bit) (60Hz)
Monitor: Plug and Play Monitor
Monitor Max Res: 1600,1200
Driver Name: igxprd32.dll
Driver Version: 6.14.0010.4642 (English)
DDI Version: 9 (or higher)
Driver Attributes: Final Retail
This seems like an OK set up for me (I'm not a real big computer person) and just need to know what someone with a bit of knowledge reckons I need to be able to run Command and Conquer 3.
Here are the Req's for C&C 3:
Required System:
Microsoft Windows XP
PC with 1.6 Ghz equivalent or higher processor
256 MB of system RAM
512 MB of system RAM for online play with 3 or more players
6 GB available hard disk space
8x speed or faster CD-ROM drive or DVD-ROM drive (for the Collector's Edition)
64 MB GeForce3-class video card. The game only officially supports cards with ATI (Radeon 8500 or greater) and Nvidia chipsets, and the Intel GMA 900 and GMA 950 products. The GeForce 4 MX is not supported
Sound card with speakers or headphones
Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device
56.6 Kbps or better modem for 1v1 online play
Broadband connection for online play with 3 or more players
DirectX 9.0c or above.
Now I can understand some of this and most of it seems to match up. But I don't know the specs of different graphics cards etc. Could someone please just tell me what graphics card they would reccomend (if i even need one) and roughly what they are worth? I don't need my computer to be able to control shuttle launches or anything, I just don't want it to lag up.
Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read this mini essay and give me some help
System Upgrade
Other than the Intel GMA900, looks like fairly decent rig. I'd get a better graphics card, the GMA works with C&C but that's about it. There are other topics on what is considered a decent grapchics card.

Basically, any GeForce 7000-series or Radeon X1000 series card will work ... As for what's good for what you want to spend, check out this guide from Tom's Hardware:
