European Cars -- IMPORTANT DEBATE
http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArtic ... rs/225964/
A friend of mine sent me this on another Forum I'm a member at. Anyways:
Supposedy, there is a legislation being thought up of banning cars in Europe that can go over 101 MPH.
If you live in Europe, I suggest you read this.

What Grez says
They were limited to 155 as part of a gentleman's agreement between Mercedes, BMW and VAG not to permit cars to exceed 155mph. Of course, supercars are exceptions- thus the R8, Mercedes SLR and road-going version of the BMW M3 GTR all exceeded 155.darknight788 wrote:well alot of them are already limited to 155 mph, they really shouldnt worry though as alot of handheld tuners allow you to remove the speed and or rev limiter

Fact- driving at 155mph on the motorway would actually cut CO2 emissions.T-Shine wrote:@Darknight:This is just... tragi-comic.It's all part of a proposal to cut CO2 emissions from cars
Fiction- slowing down cars and thus creating slower movin traffic would not.

It's just another example of the lack of joined-up thinking that is occurring throughout the world at the moment.
Let's take the comically tragic case of Portsmouth in Hampshire. Our government are always waffling on about global warming, supposedly caused by CO2 emissions (leaving aside the argument that Global Warming is a naturally occurring phenomenon for another day). So what do Portsmouth do? Introduce a 20MPH speed limit throughout 85% of their roads, meaning that you would be lucky to get out of 2nd gear, thus INCREASING the amount of CO2 output compared to a vehicle being driven at the perfectly safe speed of 30MPH in 4th or even 5th gear.
Excuse me while I bang my head against a brick wall in frustration

Politicians are complete wankers, they think cars are our main cause of CO2 emmisions. Wrong its houses. The use or the crappy inefficent household products cause more emissions through the power they use then the amount of CO2 is released from the exuast. And countries that are butholes and don't wanna cut emmissions, (i think we know who they are) cause high CO2 levels.
Lol farm animals such as cattle and sheep , release high amounts of methane in the air, they are worse then cars, but u don't see any politician blame them now do you?
