I'd like to hear what good platformer games you guys can think off...
I used to play these like a madman before, games like Captain Claw, Heart of Darkness, Abe's Oddissey and such devoured a lot of my free time! Anyone played (or still plays) some? If you can recall any good platformer you played, or heard of, don't hesitate to post it here...
- Captain Claw
- Heart of Darkness
- Abe's Oddissey / Exoddus
- Rayman
- Earthworm Jim

How can you be forgetting the most famous platformer ever made? MARIO!
To be honest, I was never a big Mario fan (Sonic ftw) but Super Mario Galaxy will be epic.

Ooh man Mario.
The first one on the orginal Nintendo console was pretty fun, but then we didn't have much options in terms of games....exept duckhunt wich was in the same sales package as Super Mario.
After that it went downhill fast.
I can't believe they are still working with the same stuff at Nintendo, they are living of Mario and Zelda for years now, can't believe that not everyone isn't bored of it now.

Without

? Nah... Played a bunch of PC versions, none got that amazing "mario" feel to it, or atleast I didn't feel it... Anyway, Mario is the god of platformer games, nevertheless...

If only I could get my old console to work somehow

Highly doubt it though, because it's burned...

It's not a platformer, but he it was in the Mario bundle so everyone who played Mario almost certainly played Duckhunt...

Considering I have only owned the SNES and every single PS to exist (apart from the slimline PSOne, I just stuck with the bulky one), I don't play many platformers, except the original Crash Bandicoot was kinda fun, but that got old with every sequel, but does the original Tomb Raider count? That was hell creepy, especially when a (while extremely pixellated) T-Rex comes out of nowhere and tries to eat you! The music didn't really help either.
Mario was fun, but even though they weren't platformers there were better SNES games. I don't know what aspect of my childhood caused this, but I just thought that unicycles speeding over giant blobs and doing tricks was way more fun than a fat plumber that got high on mushrooms to become bigger and stronger.
Heck, I can't even remember the name of the game, but it sure was bloody fun!

Megaman / Megaman X here FTW.
I just remember all the hours I spent playing both series man...
Dr. Wily's castle/lab where the ultra challengue all the time....
The best megaman game I EVER played was Megaman 4
What a game bro...also it was my FIRST console game..it brings me so many memories bout my childhood....oh damn I'm about to cry....
On duckhunt...I remember that there's a cheat that allows you to shoot automatically without aiming to the ducks. If I'm not wrong, you have to aim your nes pistol at the right bottom of the screen and as soon as a duck appears, fire! it will go down in a bit...

I do know that with duckhunt you could just put your gun right on the screen and had almost 100% certainty for a hit

Erm.
Wikipedia wrote:Platform game, or platformer, is a video game genre characterized by jumping to and from suspended platforms or over obstacles. It must be possible to control these jumps and to fall from platforms or miss jumps.
And Lotus Challenge has these elements? Cars jump?

Abe was cool, because he is one of those very rare gaming legends that can actually show off an everyday ability that no other video game character can. HE CAN FART, DAMMIT!

Not exactly true, in Rainbow 6 Rogue Spear you could enter a cheat that made you fart and those farts did kill people behind you
But man... long long time ago I did play lotus challenge at a friends place. but still it's not a platform....

Wario also has a fart attack in
Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
btw I went and bought Super Mario Galaxy last week, and I haven't got very far yet but I can already see that it deserves the crown for
best platformer game ever made.
I have nothing more to say, just go and buy it.
